Ready…Set…Go! Six Flags Magic Mountain hosted a special preview today for their brand new roller coaster, West Coast Racers. It’s an exciting dueling coaster with state-of-the-art technology and is a great addition to the park. Let’s go for a joyride!
West Coast Racers
The attraction is located inside of a new themed area called “The Underground” that pulls inspiration from the underground street racing culture of Los Angeles. The asphalt throughout the area is painted to look like guests are walking down the middle of a street that has been closed off in preparation for a big race.
West Coast Racers is a dueling coaster that puts guests in the middle of a thrilling street race that winds around the outer perimeter of The Underground. The coaster will reach a top speed of up to 55 mph and features the world’s first-ever quadruple launch system, along with a special pitstop show element halfway through the ride.
When designing the look of the ride, Six Flags tapped world-famous car designers, West Coast Customs, to help create a unique look for the coaster trains and the surrounding buildings found in The Underground. The ride stations are designed to look like the West Coast Customs facilities in Burbank, California where all of the custom car magic takes place.
The queue is complete with a fresh-looking car.
Originally scheduled to open this past summer, the ride hit some unexpected delays and had to be pushed back to a January 9th, 2020 opening date.
Does it Deliver?
West Coast Racers is a welcomed coaster addition to Magic Mountain. It offers just the right amount of thrills without being too intense for younger riders. The hills are never too large and the airtime is exciting enough to satisfy both moderate thrill-seekers as well as the more hardcore fans.
The unique layout offers great views of the ride while standing anywhere in The Underground. This ride will be the perfect backdrop for awesome instagram posts (something all new theme park/amusement parks need to be aware of these days).

This event was a technical rehearsal, so be prepared for unexpected downtime. Overall the attraction was operating smoothly, but with occasional delays.
Can’t wait for opening day? West Coaster Racers is available for Six Flags members starting today during normal park operating hours. Previews open for both pass holders and members from December 23rd – 31st until 7 PM, and January 1-4 until 6:00 PM each day! The ride officially opens on January 9th.
