I don’t know about all of you but I am still coming off of the massive high from Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance finally opening in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios (you can read our coverage of the ride here and if you’re looking for a review with fewer spoilers here!). So, it is quite fitting that much of the merchandise in this update is related to the Star Wars universe. There are many other items on tap as well, though. Let’s get a move on!
The Myriad of Mandalorian Merchandise
If you’ve been on the internet at all for the last few weeks, you’ve most likely seen glimpses of The Mandalorian on Disney+. With an unlikely pairing of a brooding main character and the universe’s most adorable baby, it’s a show that’s hard to stop watching. Although, I want to start off the Merchandise Update by saying: no, there is currently no Baby Yoda merchandise at Disneyland. You can pre-order some third-party items from shopDisney but nothing is at the Resort (yet). But there are several other fun items available!
This hoodie mimics the armor worn by the Mandalorian. Pair it with the hat the resembles his helmet for some great everyday cosplay.
Kenner’s AT-ST Raider figure includes a figure of a Klatooinian Raider. Both pieces have a vintage look about them that the Kenner brand has become known for.
LEGO also has its own spin on the AT-ST Raider. This 540 piece set includes four minifigures: The Mandalorian, Cara Dune, and two different versions of a Klatooinian Raider.
Star Wars’ Other “Rise”
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters this month on December 20, 2019. And movie-goers can preemptively stock-up on merchandise. There is a decent variety of stuff, too.
Behold, the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Spirit Jersey. It was originally featured back in October for the Star Wars Triple Force Friday event. It was a clever design choice to use stars as the Jersey’s pattern and the simplified lightsabers of Rey and Kylo Ren as the front logo.
You can see a few more apparel options below.
For those who wish to ally themselves with The First Order, I spotted two shirts (one short-sleeved and another long-sleeved) themed to Sith Troopers.
Kenner also has several figures from The Rise of Skywalker. There are individual action figures for Rey and Zorii Bliss (the figure on the far right is Luke Skywalker from the original trilogy) as well as a set for Poe Dameron’s X-Wing Fighter.
D-O, a droid making its debut in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, joins the series’ other iconic droids on store shelves. Items include an RC toy, a spinner, and a pull-and-go toy. It is also in a toy set featuring figures of R2-D2 and BB-8.
Want something more First Order-flavored? Try Hasbro’s First Order Driver and Treadspeeder action figure set on for size. The toy has a special “crash effect” action, which I found amusing.
Other Hasbro toys include these large figures of Kylo Ren and Sith Trooper. LEGO concocted a Pasaana Speeder Chase set with four mini-figures and a Resistance A-Wing Starfighter set with two mini-figures.
LEGO also has this big honkin’ Kylo Ren’s Shuttle set. It consists of 1005 pieces and six mini-figures.
Other Goods from a Galaxy Far, Far Away
That isn’t the only big LEGO Star Wars set, though. The Millennium Falcon has 1351 pieces with seven mini-figures. Not enough pieces for you? The giant Yoda has 1771 pieces!
This Mega Figurine Set contains characters from each trilogy. There are 20 figurines in total.
This wall of new Star Wars-themed shirts is located at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney. The whole section of the store nearest the Esplanade is themed to all things Star Wars.
Mostly likely in an attempt to make up for the lack of Baby Yoda items, the traditional Yoda merchandise is getting more display love.
These Kids’ Clothes are Tight(s)!
Tights are all the rage for adults these days and it seems to have spilled over into kids attire as well. Over at World of Disney, there was a whole display dedicated to four different outfits, consisting of a long-sleeve shirt with sequin art and tights. You need to buy each piece individually, of course, but there is no denying the combinations are adorable.
The first set appears to be based on Disneyland Park. Sleeping Beauty Castle decorates the front of the shirt, while different Disneyland icons make up the tights’ pattern.
The theme of this set is pretty easy to spot: Mickey Balloons!
Mickey’s main squeeze, Minnie Mouse, is the star of this set. The shirt has her smiling face and the pattern on the tights consists of polka dots and her bow.
This is a more random theme, but it works. Say “Hello” to the set inspired by Inside Out’s Rainbow Unicorn. Like the Minnie set, the shirt has Rainbow Unicorn’s face. The tights are covered in rainbows and one of the legs has the word “Famous” with the star’s likeness running down it.
Disney’s Bodysuits: A Little Risque (Not!)
And now for something a little different: character bodysuits. Disney introduced holiday-patterned ones at the start of the season and they must have been a big hit because they have expanded to other styles. Some of the styles available include a classic Mickey and a classic Minnie as well as a Briar Rose Gold Minnie one.
If you’re feeling like updating your sleepwear choices, I also noticed these crop tops hanging nearby.
Odds and Ends
The holiday merchandise coverage isn’t over yet. These items are part of a collection called Holiday Cheer, with a focus on kitschy retro vibes.
This is one of the most original princess playsets that I have seen. A cool feature is that the seashell on the inside of the grotto can illuminate its walls.
These Park Pals are cute, little characters that you can clip onto things. Each one comes with a small, themed stand as well.
These kits, created by Ugears, contain everything you need to craft a model that moves with the crank of a gear. I found a train and a monorail as options, both at Off the Page at Disney California Adventure.
