It’s the start of the weekend, but Disneyland has a slew of surprises today. We had mentioned that the new Tomorrowland entry was incomplete and would be getting some decorative details. Now we have the concept art to share. But that’s not all,it looks like the Disneyland Hotel will soon get a Vacation Club tower. Plus, the long-awaited Frontierland dueling piano show is slated to debut today in the Golden Horseshoe. AND, with Frozen 2 now in theaters, there’s a new sipper cup shaped like Sven and Anna and Elsa are meeting guests in their new outfits.
Tomorrowland Entry Concept Art
The new wide-open entry to Tomorrowland will soon be decorated with a retro vibe reminiscent of the spires on the Tomorrowland Terrace stage.
Here’s how the area looks now:
Here’s the concept art:
And just a funny little detail . . . it appears that they’ve done their concept photoshop on top of a VERY old image of the land . . . yes, that’s a Rocket Rod in the background.
Into the Unknown
For many fans, there can never be enough molded plastic keepsakes. The release of Frozen 2 today brings a new Sven sipper cup. It’s $17.99. Because it’s cute, it will likely be very popular. You can find him for a limited time at Red Rose Tavern and Maurice’s Treats at Disneyland and the Hyperion Cart at Disney California Adventure while supplies last.
Anna and Elsa are also expected to be meeting guests in their new outfits inspired by the film. You can find them in their new looks at Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome inside the Disney Animation building at Disney California Adventure.
Additionally, there are some new options available for makeovers at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for hair and makeup inspired by Frozen 2.
Speaking of the movie, have you seen it? We saw it in 4DX last night (moving seats and environmental effects) and really enjoyed it. What did you think? Did you like the signature new song, Into the Unknown?

Pianos Duel Starting Today
When Laughing Stock was canceled from the entertainment schedule it left the Golden Horseshoe without an act to fill the stage. The backlash to the entertainment cutbacks was loud and Disney quickly arranged for strolling magicians (mostly from the Magic Castle in LA) and promised a Dueling Piano show for the fall. Not much more was heard about the show until it appeared on the daily entertainment schedule today as “Showdown at the Golden Horseshoe.” Let us know what you think when you are able to see it.
You can watch Showdown at the Golden Horseshoe starting today at 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm. There will be up to five shows a day, so be sure to keep an eye on the Entertainment Schedule for daily performances.
Matterhorn Fully Reopened
After an incident this past summer where a chunk of the Matterhorn facade collapsed, half of the mountain has been down. Wait times have been insane since that time. Thankfully, the entire mountain has finally be reopened and waits have dropped to more reasonable levels.
Here is the wait time from 11:45am this morning. MUCH better than the 60+ minutes for the last few months. Now that the wait is significantly lower, will you be making a point to visit the Matterhorn soon?
New Disney Vacation Club Tower at Disneyland Hotel
After years of speculation, Disney has just filed permits to build a Disney Vacation Club tower at the Disneyland Hotel. For the time being, we know that the preliminary permits are for a 12-story DVC tower with 350 units on a 280,000 square-foot space. If it gets approved, it will be the 17th DVC resort and located next to the existing pool deck and convention center within the Disneyland Hotel complex.
It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next few months. How do you feel about another Disney Vacation Club resort?
