Are you in the market for a new purse? Does your bag not accurately describe you as a Disney fanatic? Do you have some cash to burn? Well, Disneyland has got the goods in the form of designer bags from Loungefly and Dooney & Bourke. Although they’ve got a pretty hefty price tag (about $40 to $90 for the former, and the latter ranging from about $130 to $470), they’re the perfect collector’s item for a Disney fashionista. So, picture your wardrobe in your head and let’s find you the Disney designer bag your outfits will thank you for.
Loungefly Bags Based on Disney Movies & Shows
Let’s get the ball rolling with the Rescue Rangers, Chip and Dale, featured on a reversible backpack. The chipmunks’ buddy, Zipper, is an attached accessory.
Another Disney Afternoon mainstay, Scrooge McDuck of Duck Tales, has a backpack of his own. The front zipper pull is molded to look like a money bag.
This Olaf backpack might not be able to enjoy warm hugs from you, but fret not, he is content with holding your wallet and keys.
And here is a backpack imagined after Snow White’s Evil Queen. This is a weird one, in my opinion. I just don’t think the character lends herself well to this backpack’s design constraints.
Edna Mode may have said “No capes!” but she never mentioned backpacks. And it’s a good thing too because otherwise, this adorable bag made in the likeness of The Incredibles’ favorite fashion designer wouldn’t be an option.
And Edna would certainly approve of this backpack inspired by the super suits used by the Parr family.
The zipper on Inside Out’s Rainbow Unicorn’s backpack is, fittingly, rainbow-colored. Her horn is stuffed and sticks out above the body of the backpack as do her ears.
I have just met this Dug backpack and I love it. After seeing Up, how can you not?
This backpack is inspired by Bo Peep’s outfit from Toy Story 4. There are even ruffles on the sides!
Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc., were both transformed into backpacks. Which one you do prefer? Or would you rock them both at the same time?
This Pixar ball-patterned backpack is unique in that it comes with a coin purse, also fashioned after the ball, attached to a tether on the bag.
The emblem in the center of Captain Marvel’s backpack is embossed and has a metallic sheen. Overall, it is a simple look but it matches the character’s outfit well.
Both of the zipper pulls on this Groot-inspired backpack are faux leaves. Yet another simple Marvel design that looks great in practice.
This pattern uses the original Guardians of the Galaxy as an all-over print. I say “original” because you will note that Mantis is missing.
If you liked the look of that Guardians of the Galaxy pattern and you’re a Star Wars fan, then the next two backpacks will be right up your alley. There are versions for both the Original Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy.
If the previous patterns were a little too cutesy for you, here’s one that’s pretty straightforward. It’s the Star Wars logo repeated in different colors. Visually, there’s a lot going on, but the colors pop out against the black very nicely.
There are also two backpacks fashioned after Star Wars characters, R2-D2 and Yoda. I particularly like the Yoda one because you can pretend that you are Luke carrying the little green Jedi through the swamps of Dagobah.
Loungefly Bags Based on Disney Parks
For 2019’s holiday season at the Disneyland Resort, there has been a big emphasis on the many seasonal sweets in the parks. This backpack pays homage to the sugary delights in its pattern.
There’s also another holiday-inspired backpack that sports a very jolly Santa Mickey. It has a velvet-like exterior with extra-fluffy accents on the hat and beard.
When it comes to Disneyland, it doesn’t get more iconic than Sleeping Beauty Castle. And Loungefly did a great job of capturing the structure’s look and feel, complete with fireworks and a spire that slightly sticks up above the body of the backpack. If you feel more like a Walt Disney World fan, there is also a Cinderella Castle variant available in the Florida resort.
I suppose this mini-backpack could have been filed in the previous category but given that badge reads “Black Spire Outpost,” I thought it fit better here. Plus, both this bag and its matching wallet (sold separately) are only available at the Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Show your love for The Haunted Mansion with this backpack and matching wristlet, sold separately. The pattern features the wallpaper found in the Mansion’s hallway.
Jerrod Maruyama’s Kingdom of Cute series is featured as a pattern on this backpack. I love that it includes characters like Big Al (of Country Bears’ fame) and Dumbo along with the traditional ones like Goofy and Pluto.
This pattern is rightfully named “Parks Collage,” but it is not a backpack I have any intention of obtaining. It’s a collage of images including parts of park maps along with a few versions of the Fab Five. To me, it all looks a bit haphazard and colored strangely. Although, people seem to like it well enough for Disney to offer a matching wallet (sold separately).
Yet another odd Parks-related print, Disney Parks Icons includes images you would expect like Mouse Ears, a MagicBand, and Dole Whip but also has a Wi-fi signal (which anyone who has visited the Parks recently will tell you is not a selling point) and a pair of headphones.
Dress Shop Bags by Loungefly
The Disneyland Hotel’s well-loved watering hole, Trader Sam’s, is honored with a purse fashioned after their Zombie cocktail.
You can cosplay as the Haunted Mansion’s Hatbox Ghost any day with this purse. The ghost’s head is attached to the top of the purse with a clasp and has a lenticular design, allowing it to “disappear” at certain angles. And while Hattie carries his box, this purse does have an attachable strap.
For Pinnochio fans, Geppetto’s adorable feline, Figaro, gets his own purse, complete with an extra-fuzzy face.
Taking a cue from Pirates of the Caribbean, this treasure chest purse opens just like a real chest would (except a zipper is involved). You have the option of carrying this purse with its top handle or utilizing the attachable shoulder strap.
The yellow, blue, and red portion on this Pixar Ball purse is covered in sequins, making it a glitzier alternative to the Pixar Ball backpack.
If you lean towards the Dark Side of the Force, you will see the appeal in these next two purses. The Darth Vader one is a molded clamshell, while the Sith Trooper is a more two-dimensional design.
Miscellaneous Loungefly Bags
For a while now, Disney has had waves of “color collections.” These collections typically include a backpack (and they usually use the same one).
The most recent color was Arendelle Aqua, a likely tie-in to Frozen 2, which hits theaters November 22. You can see its backpack below. This time, the collection included not only a backpack, but a wristlet as well.
Magic Mirror Metallic’s bags had a different look than is typical for the color collections. For starts, the backpack didn’t have Minnie’s ears and bow. Additionally, a tote bag was released alongside it.
Here we see Minnie Mouse model again with the Briar Rose Gold backpack.
This Minnie Mouse backpack isn’t from a color collection but it does looks oddly similar. However, you’ll note the bow is slightly askew. Maybe Ms. Mouse is exploring her rebellious side?
This wristlet resembles the backpack above but with a different color scheme.
We now move from Minnie over to Mickey Mouse with this backpack and wallet, both of which feature a print bearing the character’s likeness.
These next two bags were released by Loungefly to honor The Haunted Mansion’s 50th Anniversary. The satchel in the first image has patches on both sides of the bag with a purple shoulder strap bearing the phrase “Foolish Mortal.” The tote also has patches on both sides. No matter what bag you choose, the lining will be the wallpaper from the Mansion’s hallway.
Dooney & Bourke Bags
The Dooney & Bourke bags are a little different than the Loungefly versions.
Here we have the Disney Parks Holiday collection. The bags of this collection have the same repeating pattern with the exception of the Tote, which has a picture of Mickey and Minnie on Main Street, U.S.A. in the snow.
This one is called the Mickey and Minnie Mouse Floral collection.
Disney Vacation Club members are the only ones allowed to purchase this next collection. It features imagery from different DVC resorts, like Hawaii’s Aulani and The Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas in Walt Disney World.
Dooney & Bourke’s Disney Parks Icons Collection looks a bit different than the other patterns we have seen so far. Rather than having a print on the fabric, the bags use plain black leather that is embossed with images. The main things seemed to be fireworks and Mickey balloons but I also caught Tinker Bell and a castle in the mix as well.
The Disney Sketch Collection is next. This must be a popular collection because the pattern is used on many different types of bags. The bags that have colored accents, like green or blue, are a special 10th Anniversary variant.
The Mickey Mouse Balloons Collection is just what the name implies, a pattern covered in those classic mouse-eared balloons.
Lastly is the remains of The Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary Collection. One of the interesting things about this pattern is that, if you look closely at the “50,” you will spot a hatchet (inspired by the murderous Bride in the attic) in the silhouette of the “5” and a coffin inside the “0.”
