Universal CityWalk in Hollywood has opened a new restaurant to expand this vivacious destination for locals and visitors alike. Led by Universal executive chefs, Antojitos Cocina Mexicana offers a new take on classic dishes that will please even the most discerning palates. We headed to Universal to check out the new restaurant as well as another recent opening, Vivo Italian Kitchen!

Antojitos Cocina Mexicana

This new restaurant brings vibrancy to the heart of CityWalk. Executive Chef Gian Caterina, who hails from Brazil, believes in serving up fresh ingredients diced, marinated and grilled to perfection.

Antojitos features open space seating, private dining rooms and an outdoor patio where guests are greeted by live musical performances from local Latin artists and mariachi bands. The large centerpiece bar is a trademark of the restaurant and features over 150 tequilas from around the world, a myriad of sampling flights, a selection of handcrafted cocktails and margaritas and cold cervezas served on tap.

The menu features unique items such as the Guacamole Trio and Chips, including their signature guacamole, pomegranate guacamole with queso fresco and pepita guacamole with jalapeños and lime salt. Carnitas Nachos (made with crispy pork carnitas), Queso Fundido (melted Oaxaca, Chihuahua and cotija cheeses), Chicharrones de Pollo (crispy chicken bites, chili lime salt) and Elote (everyone’s favorite street corn) are just a few of the many dishes available. Antojitos also caters to dietary restrictions, offering vegetarian options. This restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food, so expect it to be enjoyed by a lot of people and entertainment as vibrant as can be.

Vivo Italian Kitchen

If you crave for homemade Italian bread or tempting sweets like Ricotta Cheesecake, Tiramisu, Chocolate Zucotto Vasi, or Gelato with rosemary-infused butter cookies, then Vivo Italian Kitchen should be on your must-visit list. This second new-ish location in Universal CityWalk features both indoor and al fresco dining with a variety of palate-pleasing lunch and dinner options.

Chef Cyndi Tran creates fine Italian cuisine with hand-tossed pizzas, Tuscan kale and white bean soup, creamy garlic mushroom sautéd mussels marina, house-made meatballs and of course, classic pasta with a twist. The bar features a variety of Italian-inspired cocktails created by an expert mixologist as well as a selection of wines to complement every meal.

The arrival of Antojitos Cocina Mexicana and VIVO Italian Kitchen adds to the expanding CityWalk, which includes popular eateries like Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and Voodoo Doughnut, shopping, and the state-of-the-art Universal Cinema. Universal CityWalk is the place to be for your dining and shopping pleasure. And don’t forget, reservations are accepted at all-new locations, as well as a portion of valet parking is covered.
