Epcot is a world of change. Yes, there are many construction walls in Future World, but there are some exciting glimpses at the future of the park as well. Today we’ll take a look at what’s new, including the debut of the Epcot Experience in the Odyssey center and the new (temporary) fireworks show, Epcot Forever.
Epcot Construction
If you’d never been to Epcot before, you might think it’s a construction wall museum.
The new entry will look something like this when complete:
If you look at the center of the image, you’ll see that Innoventions/Communicore West is slated to be removed. In its place will be a new green zone and Moana walk-through experience (that appears to be a water play area for kids).
New Epcot Forever Merchandise
New shows mean new merchandise. Since the show evokes a retro vibe, so does the merch. Let us know what you think.
The new Epcot Forever merchandise has a great retro vibe.
The Epcot Experience
The Epcot Experience is a preview of all the changes coming to the park. With construction walls everywhere, a lot of guests are going to wonder what’s going on. This is the place for them to find out.
The model from the D23 Expo is the centerpiece of the exhibit.
The model is projection-mapped, allowing sections to be highlighted and recolored as you view it.
The Epcot Experience is a really neat way to drum up excitement for the new vision of the park.
EPCOT Forever
And now, as the sun sets, it’s time to find a spot for Epcot Forever, the show that temporarily replaces Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. The new permanent show debuts next year.
Epcot Forever launched with classic EPCOT Center music synced up with fireworks and kites.
This temporary show will be replaced by HarmonioUS next year. It’s supposedly the biggest nighttime spectacular Disney has ever attempted.
Chloe has an Epcot Forever review for you today as well, which includes video and additional photos and gifs of the new show:
I also encourage you to look at her farewell to Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. It’s a bittersweet time in the park for sure:
