Knott’s Berry Farm is known for their thrills and chills at Halloween time with their nightly “Scary Farm” event. But the little ones haven’t been forgotten. During the day, “Spooky Farm” provides a bounty of Halloween entertainment for the whole family. But that’s not the only thing going on down on the farm, we’ll also show you some construction projects around the park, and a few little updates . . .
Knott’s Spooky Farm
If you are looking for a fun Halloween outing for the whole family, Knott’s Spooky Farm may might just be your treat. While the braver folk can head into the fog for Scary Farm, on the weekends through the rest of the month and on Halloween day, you can enjoy a plethora of entertainment and fun without any monsters trying to eat you.
Ghost Town
It’s incredible how different things can look in the light of day. During Scary Farm, the normally quaint Ghost Town becomes the scariest of all the lands, filled with all sorts of monsters and eerie lighting. However, by daylight, the park is much more inviting with the cobwebs appearing more like charming folksy decor than life-threatening snares. Plus, during Spooky Farm, you’ll only find Friendly spirits roaming the streets.
Many of the Friendly Spirits are the same performers we have seen during Ghost Town Alive.
Children under the age of 12 can Trick-Or-Treat at several spots around Ghost Town. Younger guests will receive a purple bag upon entering the park that Knott’s Staff look for when passing out candy.
Over at Livery Stable, Knott’s brought a few real-life creepy-crawlies to the barn. We can see mice, turtles, spiders, snakes, a goat, a horse, oh my!
Spooky Storytelling
If you’re in the mood for a story, there’s a retelling of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” that’s family-friendly and entirely entertaining.
The show follows Professor Boyle, and she introduces the show. However, as the performance begins, the stage manager informs her that the rest of her troupe can’t make it to the show. That’s when Professor Boyle has a bright idea to tell the story with a limited crew of herself, the stage manager, and a few audience members.
The show is filled with visual gags and is great way to spend a few minutes off your feet.
Linus’s Pumpkin Patch
Out in Calico Square, Linus has set up a little pumpkin patch while he waits patiently for the Great Pumpkin to appear.
You can even decorate a pumpkin for $6.
On the other side of the Square, there’s a Spooky Cookie stand where you can decorate cookies for 1c less than a pumpkin (plus tax).
There are also a couple of mini craft kiosks set up in the area.
“The Monsters are Coming”
Over in the Camp Snoopy Theater, you can watch the seasonal favorite “The Monsters are Coming.” The show follows J. T. as she throws her annual pre-trick-or-treat party while she listens to her favorite radio broadcast of “The Monsters are Coming” when Charlie Brown and Lucy arrive at the party.
Just as the first round of music ends, the radio announcer states that monsters have been seen just down the street and are heading towards the party. Charlie Brown and Lucy are scared of the incoming monsters, but J.T. knows it’s just the announcer pulling a prank.
Well, it turns out the monsters are just trick-or-treaters! And that means that it’s time for J.T. and her friends to become “monsters” themselves.
A Trip to Camp Spooky
Across the way, you can travel on the Grand Sierra Railroad for a trip to Camp Spooky.
During the train ride, you can see all the monsters that make up Camp Spooky.
The Halloween Hootenanny
Over at the Timber Mountain Log Ride, you can experience the family-friendly Halloween Hootenanny seasonal overlay. An array of night creatures (mythical or otherwise) have gathered at Timber Mountain to experience the Halloween Hootenanny along with the riders.
There are 20 cats hidden throughout this ride, but so far I’ve only found two. Have you seen any of the other 18?
Into the mountain we go!
To help you boost your cat-finding numbers, I’ll give you a head start: this furry guy is at the end of the first show scene just below the woodcarver’s bench.
Knott’s Spooky Farm runs on Saturdays and Sundays now through October 27th plus on the 31st. The majority of the activities are only available during the Spooky Farm, but you can enjoy “The Monsters are Coming” show, Timber Mountain Log Ride’s Halloween Hootenanny, and Trip to Camp Snoopy on a daily basis through the 31st.

Around the Farm
Halloween Decorations
Knott’s Berry Farm is decorated from head to toe for Halloween. Beautiful pumpkin displays and fall foliage is everywhere.
There’s an abundance of pumpkins in Camp Snoopy. The fun thing about these guys is how different they look during the day versus at night. They’re fun and quirky during the day, and absolutely terrifying at night!
Over in Ghost Town near the Calico River Rapids. Knott’s has updated the decorations to match the refreshed attraction.
Knott’s has also updated the circus acts banners with some new (to us) banners this year.
Over at the Charleston Circle, Knott’s left up one of the Summer Nights Snack stands to sell snacks during Scary Farm. I love that they added a sign to help it fit better into the area.
All around Knott’s Berry Farm, you can find photo spots. Check out this year’s backgrounds.
Ghost Town Restroom Refurbishment Wrap-Up
Over in Ghost Town, the refurbishment has wrapped on the West set of restrooms. They have a very similar look and design as the restrooms that Knott’s refurbished last year in the heart of Ghost Town.
Christmas Decorating!
While I love Knott’s during Halloween, nothing compares to when it’s in Christmas mode. Over the past few weeks, we have seen Christmas lights and lanterns being strung through the trees and on the buildings around Ghost Town.
VR Experience
A few weeks ago we mention that Ghost Town VR experience closed in the Boardwalk Arcade. But with the Scary Farm announcement lineup this year, the VR experience was still included.
We know that Knott’s pulled one of the VR units out of Arcade and placed it in one of the Games of the Boardwalk slots. Although it’s only open during Scary Farm, it’s nice to see it still in use.
Popcorn Bucket
A few months ago, Knott’s started selling refillable Snoopy Popcorn Buckets with 99c refills. There is only one issue: there is no end date listed for the bucket’s refill deal. Although, many are speculating that you can continue to get the buckets refilled until the end of 2020.
Mrs. Knott’s Menu Updated
Outside the park at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant, the team has cooked up some new Lunch and Dinner options. The Chicken Fried Steak, Chicken Scampi, and Fried Chicken Waffles are new to the menu, and all of them are excellent additions.
