Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel is an elegant, but often overlooked, Hollywood-style restaurant that serves top-notch meals. It’s also the setting of a classic afternoon tea. The tea time tradition dates back to 1800s European high society, as friends and family would gather to relax and make lasting memories. Disney offers a popular and elegant tea service complete with sweets treats and savory sandwiches.

Until November 3, guests can indulge in a sinfully delicious spread which includes scones, tea sandwiches, desserts and more. Enhance these tasty bites by sipping on assorted teas, including a seasonal gingerbread flavor infused with dashes of cinnamon and allspice. And for those who want to add a little bit of bubbly, aperitifs, wines by the glass, ports, and cordials are also available for an additional charge. Gluten-friendly and vegan options are available upon request.

During our visit, there were various types of centerpieces that caught our attention and we decided to capture all of them for you.

One of the first things we had were the various types of tea. We ordered the Lemon Sorbetti, White Ginger Pear and Gingerbread House, which is the newest season offerings. We particularly like the Gingerbread House with its full favor of ginger and cinnamon. Our second favorite was the White Ginger Pear, which was aromatic and flavorful. This white tea is very soothing and you will taste the tangy citrus more than the ginger. For those who don’t like hot tea, you can order iced tea in all the flavors offered. Also, you can ask for a cup to go of the tea of your choice.

For those who order the Premium Tea Party, a glass of sparkling wine along with a seasonal salad will be served. This special Haunted Mansion salad is inspired by the stretching room and story of the tight-walker over crocodile-infested waters. With sliced radishes, mandarins, cheese, gooseberry, roasted pickled beets and topped with a lychee vinaigrette, this is a tangy and yet satisfying way to start this haunted tea service.

To accompany our scones, Lime curd, Devonshire Cream, and Blackberry Jam were brought out. Our favorite clearly was Devonshire cream. This cream is sweet, flavorful and goes great with scones and biscuits (by the way you can pick up Devonshire cream from World Market or Amazon).

Our tea party really hit high gear when a tray of delicious and scrumptious savory and sweet treats were placed on the table. But where do we begin? According to the story, since it’s inspired by the stretching room in the Haunted Manion, you should start from the bottom and work your way to the top.

The first course is Mickey-shaped scone with cotton candy flavors that were delightful, moist and delicious. Add the Devonshire cream and you have the treat to cherish. The 2nd scone, the blackberry bloody scone paired perfectly with the lime curd, but the scone itself was dry and without the cream or curd, wasn’t as enjoyable as the Mickey-shaped scone.

Our second course was the tea sandwiches. The selection was a beating heart made from Goat cheese with roasted beets, the room is stretching with ham and cucumber chive cream sandwich layered all so nicely, Banh Mi with pickled carrots and onions and mayonnaise, and the hatbox ghost is dried beef and blue cheese mustard dressing. All so yummy.

The final course was, of course, the desserts. Madame Leota has appeared in dark chocolate and white chocolate pannacotta with a bit of crunch inside, the doom buggies are a whoopie pie with purple marshmallow cream, the cake pop for the undead bride is a velvet cake with white chocolate and finally, chocolate-covered strawberries make this final plate worth the wait.
