Disney’s highly anticipated streaming service, dubbed Disney+, will launch November 12th as we’ve previously reported. However, the service will now be joined by Disney’s other streaming platforms, ESPN+ and HULU in a new discount bundle for just $12.99 per month. The bundle will launch as an option along with Disney+ in November.
Disney+ by itself will be $6.99/mo, ESPN+ goes for $4.99/mo, and Hulu (with ads) is normally $5.99/mo. So the $12.99 bundle is a savings of about $4.98 per month.
During a Disney Company earnings call this week (in which parks attendance was reported as being down by 3%), Bob Iger referred to steaming as “the most important product the company has launched in my tenure.”
Iger also said that “The positive response to our direct-to-consumer strategy has been gratifying, and the integration of the businesses we acquired from 21st Century Fox only increases our confidence in our ability to leverage decades of iconic storytelling and the powerful creative engines across the entire company to deliver an extraordinary value proposition to consumers.”
Netflix currently costs between $9 and $16 per month (depending on your plan) and HBO Go is $14.99 per month. Both of these services will be losing Disney content (including Marvel, Lucas, Muppets, Pixar, ABC, and FOX movies and TV shows).
Will you be going for the Disney bundle (Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu), going unbundled, or skipping entirely? And how does this impact your interest in Netflix and HBO Go? Will you drop any of the other streaming services because Disney is pulling out?
