Today is a special day for Hong Kong Disneyland! As part of the park’s 15th-anniversary celebration, the castle is currently undergoing a complete redesign to pay tribute to several Disney Princesses.

And starting today, the Resort’s new castle towers and spires representing 13 Disney Princess stories will be lifted and placed onto the castle’s base.

Guests will be able to see this ongoing transformation, as the new castle will tower high over its 77′ predecessor.

Also seen in concept photos, the renovated hub area will offer new daytime and nighttime entertainment:

With its Grand Opening in 2005, Hong Kong Disneyland is one of the youngest Disney Parks – which makes a complete castle renovation surprising so soon in the park’s short history.

Upon completion, HKDL’s new castle will possess a unique look compared to any other Disney Park. Though, I feel like the silhouette is reminiscent of Disneyland Paris’ Sleeping Beauty Castle at first glance.

Castle and hub area construction will continue throughout the summer. No official word on when the project will be complete; speculation leads to sometime in 2019 or 2020.
I’m looking forward to seeing the final result, as the backdrop of those Hong Kong mountains set a beautiful scene for any fairy tale… or 13 in this case!

We are reserving our personal opinions on the castle design to provide you the opportunity to make your own opinion. though, we would love to hear your thoughts on the castle below, let us know if you think it is a Beauty or a Beast.
