A lot has happened at the Magic Kingdom since our last update.
We have some great photos of Tron coaster construction. The twisted steel structure is rising fast. There are walls around the moat by the Cinderella Castle walkway from Liberty Square, plus some more updates as the busy summer season continues.
Let’s take a look . . .

Morning Magic
Before the oppressive heat of mid-day, Main Street is alive with vehicles, entertainment and magic to welcome guests.
Seeing the vehicles out so early in the morning is always nice. A great photo op!
But the summer crowds have definitely arrived.
I love catching the Dapper Dans in the somewhat cooler mornings.
Here’s a shot of a family participating in the Photopass feature that takes a photo from one of the rooftops on Main Street.
Have you experienced this new service?
The Tomorrowland sign has been taken down since I took this photo over the weekend. Hopefully, it will be back soon!
Tomorrowland and the Tron Coaster
The most exciting project at the Magic Kingdom is the upcoming Tron attraction.
The new Tomorrowland aesthetic is hard to get used to. What do you think about the new bright colors?
You can barely make out the cranes for the Tron construction.
There are some walls up near the Speedway. I’m assuming this will be the entrance and exit for the Tron queue.
The Tron coaster track is going up pretty quickly!
This mound of dirt almost looks like the Master Control Program…
I’m getting really excited about the new coaster. Are you?
But will the fancy new coaster make Space Mountain next door feel out of date? Once Tron is complete, perhaps Disney should take the opportunity to upgrade Space Mountain. A single track in the mountain, with onboard sound and special effects would go a long way toward bringing Disney World’s oldest coaster into the modern era. Anyone else agree?
Back to Fantasyland!
We’ve got some walls up here, but more on that a little later.
Hey…what’s this random wall doing in front of the Castle Couture / Tinker Bell’s Treasures store?
There’s a new Outdoor Vending Cart near Pinocchio’s Village Haus.
Tangled, Liberty Square and More!
Long lines at the Haunted Mansion at 10am. Yikes!
More Walls!
The pathway that leads from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments to Cinderella Castle is being widened. Work is continuing on this project, so there are walls at both ends of the path.
Very odd to see the castle moat without any water.
Disney has confirmed that the Country Bear Jamboree will not be closing as some have said.
I’d love to see them bring back the vacation and holiday overlays to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Magic Kingdom!
Did you ever get to see the Country Bear Christmas Special?
Frontierland
A beautiful morning on the Rivers of America.
Adventureland
The walls are finally down at Tortuga Tavern.
…But we’re not sure what’s on the menu!
Oh yeah, there was also a rumor that the Enchanted Tiki Room was closing for a Moana show for the 50th anniversary as well. Disney also publicly shot that one down. Beware of sensationalist rumor-mongering!
Of course, the best way to prevent these classic attractions from being rethemed is to visit them and help keep them full.
Orange Bird, Lion King and Redd’s Revenge
At Sunshine Tree Terrace, there is a new float called Redd’s Revenge. Have any of you tried it yet?
Nighttime Bonus Images!
Here’s a special kiss goodnight from me to you.
That does it for this week’s article.
Are you excited to see the Tron steel going up so quickly? Will the ancient Space Mountain be able to hold its own against a high tech coaster just next-door?
