If you are seeking goods that pay homage to the Star Wars films and their characters, look no further than Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. This shopping destination was designed as a sort of black market and has mor\e ambiance than any of the Marketplace stalls.
It’s all in the Details
The proprietor, Dok-Ondar, is located near the register at the far end of the store. He is a very lifelike Audio-Animatronic figure. I spent a good time watching him as he looked over lists at his desk or checked his abacus (apparently, those are still a thing on Batuu).
You may need an alien bestiary to identify some of the trophies hanging from the walls. I spotted a Tauntaun on the upper-right and a Nexu (Padme fought one in Attack of the Clones) on the lower-left. Post in the comments if you know any of the others (please!).
Just to the side of the wall of hanging heads is a terrarium that houses a teeny, baby Sarlacc. You’ll recall one lived in the sand pit to whom Jabba the Hutt feed his unlucky prisoners. This particular Sarlacc was delivered to Dok-Ondar by Han Solo and Chewbacca.
There are also two other live creatures, a small Dianoga (the creature that attacks Luke in A New Hope) and another amphibious creature we’ve yet to identify.
Above the merchandise, shelves are a treasure trove of artifacts from Star Wars’ past eras. Items include wall carvings of Jedi heroes, suits of armor, what appear to be speeder goggles, and even a life-size Wampa, preserved through taxidermy.
This eye-catching mural lines the first wall you see as you enter the store.
There are so many details on the inside and outside of the store that it’s nearly impossible to document it all.
But enough of that and onto the merchandise!
The Light Side
Merchandise-wise, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is split is two: one half is dedicated to the Light Side and the other to the Dark Side.
Get a lot of love, Yoda does. And by that I mean, there are quite a few products inspired by Luke’s little green teacher. There is an entire Yoda costume, complete with a cane (sold separately), a large bronze bust, a mini-bust, and even a rather fetching painting.
This Jedi Temple Wall Relic highlights the heroes of the Clone Wars. Mugs and journals with a matching motif are also available.
Both Leia and Padme are preserved in stain glass portraits. Other royal items include Leia’s dress from A New Hope, a wig mimicking Leia’s hairstyle, a Naboo headdress, and plenty of jewelry.
While we are on the subject of jewelry, I won’t draw attention to the price tag on the $2,000 necklace. I know that everything in Galaxy’s Edge seems to be pricey, but . . . yikes!
Everyone’s favorite farm-boy-turned-Jedi-Master, Luke Skywalker, also has his own merchandise corner. His is a lot smaller than Yoda’s but there is still a painting and large bust.
The Dark Side
You didn’t really think we were done with busts, did you? The main players of The Dark Side, like Darth Maul, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Vader, also have busts to call their own. What can I say . . . it’s a very busty store.
And busts aren’t the only big, metal objects for sale. There is also a light-up Darth Vader castle and a statue of Supreme Leader Snoke.
Just a few shelves over are cosplay items like this officer cap and pilot uniform. The pilot helmet that accompanies the uniform is sold separately and can also be found in the same area.
Although a lot of the merchandise at Galaxy’s Edge is on the expensive side of the force, there is one small memento at Dok-Ondar’s that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg (Pre-Vader Anakin joke, anyone?). The “Sith Tokens” cost $3.99 and are polished black rocks that feature some of the famous baddies and a corresponding quote. One of the popular ones is a thought from Lord Vader himself, “I find your lack of faith disturbing.”
Legacy Lightsabers
Savi’s Lightsaber Workshop may be a high-priority experience for some guests who want an individualized lightsaber. For those that want a higher end one, or don’t want to customize one, Dok-Ondar’s is a great option. The establishment carries Legacy lightsabers, weapons modeled after the ones specific characters wielded.
There are several advantages to purchasing a Legacy lightsaber over customizing one at Savi’s. For starters, you skip the line for the Lightsaber Workshop. Big plus, right there. And secondly, these are actually higher-quality. Savi’s have a plastic hilt, while the ones purchased at Dok-Ondar’s are metal. Although, these lightsabers can’t change color through additional kyber crystals like the ones from Savi’s.
And depending on what you want from your lightsaber, it may end up being cheaper, too. Here, the hilts and blades are sold separately. But if all you wanted was to walk around with an “unactivated” lightsaber at your side, all you would need is the hilt anyway. The hilts alone start at $109 (compared to the $200 price tag from Savi’s).
Some sabers even have special features that aren’t available to any other saber. Examples include Kylo Ren’s side exhausts and being able to attach two of Maul’s or Assajj Ventress’ sabers together to form a double sided one.
Whether you want a blade or not, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities stocks accessories to round out the look. For those hilt-only types, there is a lightsaber belt clip. And for guests that go for the blade as well, there are over-the-shoulder carrying bags. These are similar to the ones at Savi’s but of a higher quality.
Kyber Crystals and Holocrons
Kyber crystals and Holocrons are the last two highlights from Dok-Ondar’s. You actually receive one kyber crystal when you participate in the Lightsaber Workshop experience, but there are several reasons to give the wall of kyber crystals at Dok-Ondar’s a look. If, for instance, you wanted to change the color of your custom lightsaber’s blade, a new, differently colored cyber crystal is required.
But there is also another reason. Kyber crystals activate the Holocrons, memory-transmitting devices invented by the Jedi of old. In other words, a cool-looking box that talks when you put one of the kyber crystals in it.
For those who follow the way of the Jedi, there is the Jedi Holocron. It works with the blue, green, white, purple, and yellow kyber crystals.
Part of the Dark Side? Here’s the Sith Holocron. It works with the red and black kyber crystals. The black kyber crystals are especially rare. They are packaged in the same box as the red ones and you have a slim chance of finding one (odds are about 1 out of 200). It still makes your lightsaber red, not black. But in the Sith Holocron, it has some very interesting effects…
