June is Pride Month and the Disneyland Resort is getting into the spirit with a new Rainbow Disney Collection of merchandise. Let’s explore these colorful offerings found in both parks and Downtown Disney!
[Updated on June 12, 2019 to include the Wonderground Gallery’s themed art pieces as well as Bob Gurr’s appearance at the LA Pride Parade.]
The Rainbow Disney Collection
This collection is not only festive, but 10 percent of the proceeds also goes to charity. The chosen organization is GLSEN, which strives to create safe and inclusive learning environments for LGBTQ K-12 students.
The majority of this collection consists of apparel and accessories, but a few other fun items were added into the mix as well, like a Rainbow Mickey plush and Rainbow Light-up Necklace.
Am I the only one who gets old-school, Disney VHS movie vibes from the alignment of the rainbow on this t-shirt?
The lettering on this shirt and matching shorts (sold separately) have a metallic-foil quality that makes the rainbow of colors pop even more. You don’t need to be GLBT to wear these colorful outfits, everyone is encouraged to join in the celebration and support of equality and inclusion.
For fans of Ear Headbands, there are two new designs to choose from (or get both – both is good). I personally prefer the one on the right. The black ears make the rainbow design on the bow stand out more than the double-rainbow of the other ears.
Of course, Loungefly wouldn’t sit this one out, would they? Here is another one of their Mickey-inspired mini-backpacks, this time covered in rainbow sequins with just a touch of reflective rainbow fabric on the front pouch.
Other accessories include this rainbow Mickey silhouette iPhone case from Disney’s D-Tech line as well as a travel tumbler.
There is even a Rainbow Mickey Patch! It goes perfectly with the colors on the Rainbow Unicorn patch.
The Wonderground Gallery, located in Downtown Disney, had its own share of Pride-inspired merchandise. There were several rainbow art prints of Mickey Mouse, each with an accompanying pin.
And because shopping can make a person hungry, Disney has kindly created Mickey Krispies (also known as “Crisped Rice Cereal Treats”) adorned in a rainbow of colored sugar.
Cupcakes (complete with chocolate mouse ears) and Mickey-shaped cookies in the rainbow design are also available.
The Rainbow Disney Collection is available now at the Disneyland Resort. What do you think of this new line? Let us know in the comments!
But wait, we aren’t done just yet! Disney Legend and Imagineer Bob Gurr shared this photo of himself in this year’s LA Pride Parade! He rode on one of the Park’s Omnibuses as part of The Walt Disney Company’s float in the parade.
