We are just days away from the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and we’re on the edge of our seats. Cast members and their guests have been previewing the land with nothing but glowing reviews. With the big public debut of Disneyland’s biggest ever expansion, there are lots of projects which all have to wrap up in the next few days. This is like Christmas in May. Let’s see how Disney is doing. Will they be ready in time?
Castle Refurb Wrap Up

It’s official, the castle update is complete. They’ve even changed the image on the park map:

Walls came down last night, completing the Castle’s stardusting. Here’s what the old girl looked like this morning (Friday the 24th):

And here she was a couple of days ago with the scrims down but the construction wall in front still up:

In front of the castle, a few of the boxes that hold some of the show lighting for the fireworks have been removed.

When I took these photos the other night, the construction walls were still up, but they have since come down.

All the construction walls are expected to come down today, May 24th, so we’ll update this article when we have new photos of the finished castle.

With the castle project almost complete, we can again get photos of the fireworks with a castle foreground. It seems that the castle does not currently have any projections during the Mickey’s Mix Magic fireworks.
Galaxy’s Edge Lights Up The Skyline

We are so close to Galaxy’s Edge opening. With Castmember previews going on we can see how Galaxy’s Edge will light up the park’s skyline.

The main contrast we see are the red peaks of Big Thunder against the Blue-lit Black Spire peaks.

The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge map has been added to the Disneyland App:

And here’s what the printed park maps will look like:

Inside the park, a small peek of two entrances from the Disneyland Railroad.

May 29th will be media day and the opening ceremony of Galaxy’s Edge. There’s a stage being built near the Rise of the Resistance attraction entrance to accommodate this. MiceChat will be bringing everything to you live.

Project Stardust
The new Adventureland sign has been installed. They did all the work at night so the pathway wouldn’t need to be blocked during construction.

Along Main Street, work quickly wraps up as the curb has been leveled and the sidewalk has been expanded. Just one day ago it looked like this:

Now the walls are down, exposing a much widened outer ring to the hub. Note that the Coffee Cart is now gone.

Notice anything missing? The coffee cart which sold the fancy doughnuts is now gone.
Closer to the Refreshment Corner, the blocked walkway (seen below) has now been opened, revealing a cropped corner to the Jolly Holiday patio, allowing guests to make it to the crowd overflow corridor behind Main Street.
Yesterday:

Today:

Over near Hungry Bear, the construction walls are down that were along the walkway towards Galaxy’s Edge. Work continues on the upper patio of Hungry Bear as new roof structures are being installed.

Over in Tomorrowland, the construction tarps are down around the now permanent Pizza Planet facade, marking the official end of Red Rockett’s Pizza Port.

While the restaurant has been down, the back patio has remained open for guests to utilize.

Another project that’s wrapped up is the front garden reshaping in front of the Magic Eye Theater Tomorrowland Theater. As of today, the theater is now previewing the upcoming Toy Story 4.

Marvel Land Update

Switching over to California Adventure, work continues on the new Spiderman attraction. There’s quite a lot of vertical construction happening in front of the show building.

In the rest of the land, the ground is clear and work is already progressing on installing infrastructure

This and That

Work continues on Inside Out swings. Won’t be long now.

This temporary wall looks to be up while the garden fence underneath is being replaced.

Across from the Incredicoaster, the fountain is behind construction walls. Hopefully, they can solve that terrible wall discoloration issue.

While the Incredibles fountain is down, the fountain next to Jessie’s Critter Roundup has been drained, they’re likely a part of the same system.

A weekend Brunch will begin at the Lamplight Lounge starting this Saturday.

Take a look at the menu:
(Brunch Burger? Don’t mind if I do!)

Across from Soarin’ at the Grizzly Peak Refreshment Point, a new sign has been placed on top of the building.

I like it, it keeps with theme while making me thirsty…for some reason. The continued use of Humphrey is also a nice touch.

Speaking of Soarin’, Disney just announced that Soarin’ Over California will be returning to its original home for a short time from June 1st-30th. Now the real question: will the Golden Gate Bridge look crooked?
