Did you know there was a Snow White hotel at Walt Disney World?
In my last post, we looked at the Disney Golf Resort located close to the Polyneisan Village Resort, but not on the monorail loop. The Golf Resort was one of the only three hotels in which you could stay at Disney World during the first two decades. It was a also a favorite of Disney executives, like Card Walker, who loved golf and spent many afternoons playing a round on the Walt Disney World Resort gold courses.
But a Snow White Hotel?
In 1986, the resort was rethemed to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and renamed the Disney Inn, with hopes to revitalize the sleepy resort (get it? Sleepy?). Was this part of Michael Eisner’s changes? Or was this motivated by a company that found it needed to market its services and resort towards families?
During the decade that the Disney Inn operated, the company re-decorated and re-themed many of the resort amenities. Curiously, only a few of the shops and restaurants actually got a Snow White makeover.
So, why was this called Mickey’s Garden when it was a Snow White theme? There were a lot of other changes to the interior decoration of the rooms, but not much else, besides adding more rooms to the resort.
