Busch Gardens Tampa’s newest roller coaster is ready for launch!
Meet Tigris
Soaring above the park at 150 feet, Tigris is the tallest launch coaster in Florida. It sends guests through twists and loops along more than 1,800 feet of track at speeds up to 62 mph. There are three launches – two forward and one backward. You barely have time to catch your breath between the skyward surge, inverted heartline roll and more!

Tigris, built by Premier Rides, is the 9th roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa and a great addition to the park. It occupies the site of the former Tanganyika Tidal Wave ride and the queue actually utilizes part of the ride’s path. The coaster itself sits approximately where the splashdown finale of the Tidal Wave was.

Busch Gardens says Tigris was inspired by the tiger, the world’s largest and most powerful cat. And as such, it is important to prevent tigers from endangerment. The Tigris queue has information about the steps that the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund is taking to ensure their sustained future. Additionally, 5% of the sales price from merchandise purchased from the Tigris gift shop helps the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund.

I got to check out Tigris for myself during the park’s media event and it’s a lot of fun! But don’t just take my word for it…
Tigris officially opens on April 19. Are you ready to #TakeOnTigris?

Bonus content – Tigris is the same type of coaster built at Busch Gardens sister park SeaWorld San Diego last year. If you enjoyed watching me scream . . . here’s a look at Dusty melting down on Electric Eel. It’s a really fun coaster:
