It’s never too soon to get ready for Halloween and Disneyland has some big changes set for their 2019 event.
Mickey’s Halloween Party moves from Disneyland to Disney California Adventure this Fall and will debut as a new ticketed after-hours event hosted by Oogie Boogie and the Disney Villains. The Oogie Boogie Bash is a special ticket Halloween spooktacular event featuring the new World of Color “Villainous!” show, a dance party, a haunted grove for the villains, a new Mickey Mouse stage show, the relocated Frightfully Fun Parade, as well as characters and trick-or-treating. In addition, resort-wide decorations, Halloween ride overlays, and special treats and merchandise will be available to all guests, even the ones not going to Oogie’s party.
Let’s take a look at the spooky new details for the new Halloween events, including a sneak peek at World of Color Villainous and Halloween treats around the entire Disneyland Resort.

Oogie Boogie Bash Event Highlights:

Guests can choose from 20 announced nights between September 17th and October 31st. Tickets for Annual Passholder start at $100 per person (for September 17,19,25,&26) and are available now. General admission tickets start at $110 per person.
Villainous!
Villainous – NEW!: Deep down there’s a little Villain in all of us! Head to Paradise Bay for an all-new, event-exclusive nighttime extravaganza brought to life by the sights, sounds and magic of World of Color.
Oogie Boogie’s Bash will have a very special World of Color show: Villainous! It follows the story of a young girl, Shelley Marie, and her encounter with the Disney villains. She can’t decide who she wants to dress up as for Halloween, and steps through a magic mirror to meet the villains first-hand.

Shelley Marie was inspired by the author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley. This show tells a Halloween story about how deep inside, all of us have a little villainous side.

Shelley Marie was animated by the legendary animator Eric Goldberg and was handed to CG artists when Shelley goes through the mirror into a 3D animated world.

Our lucky Dusty Sage got to preview World of Color: Villainous and felt that it is the long wanted evolution of the fountain show, trading unconnected clips for an actual storyline. And while this version of the show may be a bit scary at times, it also uplifts and ends on an emotional high. The version of the show we experienced was just a test and will likely still be edited and changed. But we found the show to be hauntingly beautiful. It’s certainly going to be the highlight of Halloween for many guests, though ONLY available on Oogie Boogie party nights. We look forward to sharing a full review once the final version of Villainous has been released.

Villains Grove
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail Transformed – NEW!: Explore Redwood Creek Challenge Trail like never before as the worlds of Ursula, Scar, the Queen of Hearts and other Disney Villains unfold via ethereal scenes replete with hauntingly beautiful color, sound, light and shadow.
Redwood Creek is going to become a much darker and more Halloween themed lair for Disney’s most dastardly villains this Halloween. The area will be transformed into “Villains Grove,” and will feature themed areas not unlike a haunted house, with special lighting, music, projections. . . and the villains of course!
Treat Trails
Immersive Treat Trails – NEW!: Collect goodies along trails featuring eerie music, themed décor and some spooky and kooky characters — including Oogie Boogie and the Mad Hatter—as they oversee the festivities from their thrones.
This year, the Treat Trails have been entirely revamped with new music and effects. You’ll find Oogie Boogie and the Mad Hatter (among other villains) in each themed area, and you’re certainly in for some good tricks, and definitely some good treats.

• Trick-or-Treating: Tempt your sweet tooth! Visit candy cauldrons at treat stations throughout the park.
DescenDance
DescenDance – NEW!: Drop by the Backlot area of Hollywood Land for a pulsating dance party with the Isle of the Lost dance crew! Get into the groove while learning new moves set to hit songs from Disney’s Descendants films.
What’s a party without a dance floor? The DescenDance area will provide the beats for a frightfully good time. Led by the dance crew from the Isle of the Lost, the biggest hit songs from the Descendants movies will be getting everyone moving in Hollywood Land. But this “party” also has a lot of show elements as well and will be entertaining for those who watch as well as those who dance along.

Frightfully Fun Parade
Frightfully Fun Parade: Don’t miss this spirited howl-o-ween parade, where some of your favorite Disney Characters march in masquerade along with a cadre of Villains and stars from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Disneyland’s popular Halloween parade moves to DCA this year, but with a few small changes. The parade will still feature the Headless Horseman, along with Mickey and Minnie and the rest of the cavalcade of characters. New this year, the Cheshire Cat from “Alice in Wonderland” will be replacing Vampirina (who will be seen elsewhere during the event). Also, Maleficent will be a bit shorter this year because of the Red Car cables above the parade route. Due to California Adventure’s long parade route, guests shouldn’t have any trouble finding a great spot.

We’re looking forward to seeing this little troublemaker in the parade:

Also New
- Mickey’s Trick & Treat – NEW!: Don’t miss Mickey and friends as they headline a brand new live show filled with not-so-scary Halloween tales—at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
- Character Encounters: Seize the chance to meet, greet and pose with some of Disney’s most popular Characters decked out in their Halloween costumes.
- Carthay Circle: Hold onto your hats as clouds of black bats coil ‘round Carthay Circle’s Bell Tower while spellbinding effects transform the building.
The Cast Members working at the new Bash will also have a special costume.

The Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park on select nights September 17 through October 31, 2019.The party will be held from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM with park mix-ins beginning a few hours before the event so you can get the party started early.
Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort
Even if you aren’t going to Oogie’s party, you can still have a spooktacular time at the Disneyland Resort. Here are the attraction overlays, entertainment, food and merchandise expected for this year’s Halloween season.

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort will run from September 6th through October 31st, 2019. Although the bulk of the Halloween happenings will occur at DCA this year, Disneyland will still offer Haunted Mansion Holiday as well as special treats and park decorations. And our readers will be delighted to hear that Halloween Screams Fireworks will be offered at Disneyland throughout the season. You’ll recall that the fireworks were only available on party nights in the recent past.
In addition to the special ticketed Halloween party, Disney California Adventure will offer the following activities and attractions throughout the Halloween season to all guests:
- Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
- Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween
- Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree
- Costumed Cars Crash the Park!
- Plus spooky decor and Halloween treats in the stores.

Halloween Food
There will be no shortage of Halloween themed food this year. From donuts and funnel cake fries to cupcakes and churros. It all looks so good . . . but I’m letting out my belt now so I’ll have the extra room this Fall.
In celebration of Oogie Boogie’s first Halloween event, there are lots of treats inspired by your favorite ghoulie.

There will even be a special Oogie Boogie drink at the Hollywood Lounge with dice glow cubes.

Not to be left out of the festivities, Oogie Boogie is attending the Halloween season in the form of a new sipper. We hear that Oogie popcorn buckets will also be making a return.

Some of our favorites are making a return from last year as well. The Evil Queen and Poison Apple caramel apples are really quite fantastic.

Some of the other selections include a Maleficent-themed churro, a specialty churro that’s covered in chocolate “dirt” and gummy worms, a caramel apple smoothie, and a foot-long Hades-inspired hotdog.

There are all sorts of delicious goodies coming to the Resort very soon.

Halloween Merchandise
And finally, every event needs a special commemorative item. You will be able to find new pins, shirts, and even ears that are perfect for trick-or-treating.
For the first Oogie Boogie Bash, there are some limited release pins and shirts.

These ears really capture the Halloween spirit. We’re sure that you’ll be seeing a lot of these in the parks.

Note that the ear headband below does NOT have a bow . . . this one will be good for guys and gals and we hope they’ll do more unisex headbands in the future.
