To celebrate the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame today (April 26), we’re taking a look at the Marvel characters you can currently meet at Disney’s California Adventure. If you haven’t been following the movies, we’ve got a little background for you. Now that Marvel is part of Disney and has been incorporated into the parks, there are many Mickey fans who aren’t quite up to speed on the newest characters to come to the parks. If you’re a Marvel fan, feel free to add comments and important details you think Disney fans should know.

Black Panther

T’Challa had his film debut in Captain America: Civil War. The character has since gone on to become a key player in both Avengers: Infinity War, and his own Oscar Winning film, Black Panther. The Black Panther is the King of Wakanda, and renowned as one of Marvel’s most loyal characters.

He is often accompanied by his skilled team of female warriors, the Dora Miljae (his bodyguards and also trusted advisors). The Black Panther moniker is an honor passed through generations, with T’Challa the latest in a long line to don the mask.

The Boy Scout of the Avengers and the moral compass of the team, this WWII fighter was injected with a Super Soldier Serum that vastly improved his physiology and gave him superhuman strength. After battling the Nazi’s, Hydra, and his nemesis the Red Skull, Steve Rogers fell into the ocean in a final sacrifice for freedom. He was found many years later frozen in ice and revived by S.H.I.E.L.D. Since then, he has become the leader of the Avengers with the character appearing across 9 films, including the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man

The Avenger’s newest and youngest recruit is Peter Parker/Spider-Man. His life was turned upside down after being bitten by a radioactive spider on a school trip. After the death of his Uncle Ben, he realized that he had a responsibility to use his powers for good. He has appeared in 5 films, including the upcoming Endgame. He’s incredibly intelligent and hard-working while remaining a kid at heart. His sense of humor, strong will, and bond with Iron Man are what really guides Spider-Man towards being a hero.

The Guardians of the Galaxy

The Galaxy’s hapless group of lovable rogues, and the stars of Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout, can be found at Disney California Adventure doing their Dance Off. Although there are five in total, three of the members, Star-Lord (the egotistical and wacky leader), Gamora (the daughter of Thanos), and Groot (a walking tree that can only repeat his name), are available for meet and greets. Each member comes from a troubled past, but throughout their work saving the galaxy, they’ve created a bond closer than family and have become a fan favorite of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The latest hero to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the star of its second female-led film. Captain Marvel is a strong, fearless and fierce fighter, with a duty to protect those in danger across the universe. She is a Kree warrior who was raised as a human. After realizing her life was a lie from her captors, she broke away to embrace her true identity.  After understanding herself and her powers she was able to become an inspirational leader. You can find her at the park training her new recruits, preparing them to be as powerful as she is.

This is only a handful of the Avengers from the MCU. There’s actually well over 10 at this point. With the building of Marvel land, there are going to be several new character meet and greets. Some confirmed characters are Dr. Strange, Ironman, and Ant-Man. With the acquisition of Fox, maybe there will be even more characters from the Marvel universe too.

There have also been limited engagement meet and greets with characters such as Thor, Loki, Black Widow, and Dr. Strange. Iron-Man even had his own exhibit above Star Wars Launch Bay at Disneyland for a time but is not currently featured in the parks.

Have you met any of the Avengers? Which Marvel characters would you like to see appear in the parks? With the FOX merger, do you think that we’ll eventually see some X-Men at the Disneyland Resort?

And, let us know how the latest Avengers film was. Did Endgame live up to expectations?
