PhilharMagic fans rejoice! The whimsy, animation, and music of Disney’s popular 3D movie attraction is coming to Disney California Adventure in April, 2019. Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a popular attraction at Walt Disney World, Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris. Now it’s coming to the Disneyland Resort’s Sunset Showcase Theater as well.
Though the show features Mickey Mouse in the title, it’s really focused on Donald Duck as he takes a plunge into a (3-D) dream and is whisked away into a world of classic Disney animation and music. Segments feature Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and Aladdin among others.
Due to the quick turnaround of the theater from movie screenings to PhilharMagic, we don’t expect the full 3 screen wraparound effect of the Disney World version. Paris has a one screen version of the show. However, the former Muppetvision Theater does have some screens on the sides of the theater which might be used for an enhanced wraparound effect.
