The world of Disneyland merchandise is filled with must-have and instagrammable items. Keeping up can be difficult. One of the hottest items for the last couple of years have been the Spirit Jerseys. But as their popularity has increased, so have the number of options available. With so many different choices, how do you keep track of them, and which one to buy (or not)? With this guide, that’s how!
Below, we have documented the styles of Spirit Jerseys available at the Disneyland Resort. And please check back as we intend to update the guide periodically, removing the retired shirts and adding new ones. Currently, all adult Spirit Jerseys cost $64.99 unless otherwise noted. Kid sizes are $44.99. And a pet-sized Spirit Jersey retails for $34.99 (yes, PET-SIZED, more on that in a bit).
Spirit Jersey Colors
The most recent addition to the line is the Dapper Yellow Spirit Jersey. It was released on March 22, 2019.
The Rose Gold Spirit Jersey has been around for a while and will soon be phased out to make way for the Briar Rose Gold color, which debuts April 1 at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.
The Blue color of Spirit Jersey is a darker, almost denim-colored shade.
The Potion Purple color released in January. The Spirit Jersey works well with the matching ears, backpacks, and wallets that launched with it. We see a lot of purple walking around in the parks these days.
The Green color reminds us a bit of moss. Really popular, social media-worthy moss.
The Grey color has a weathered look akin to a stonewashed pair of jeans.
Black can still be the new black. This Spirit Jersey is the line’s equivalent of the little black dress but this time, it’s unisex!
The most whimsical of the color varieties is what is called “Cotton Candy.” It has a lightly-colored rainbow tie-dyed pattern with matching lettering on the front and back.
Attraction and Movie Variants
The Haunted Mansion Spirit Jersey features the attraction’s iconic wallpaper pattern. The words “Ghost Host” are on the front while “The Haunted Mansion” is written across the back. This is the only one of the attraction-based Spirit Jerseys that has the ride title on the back, replacing the typical “Disneyland Resort” wording. This Spirit Jersey is made even more special by the glow-in-the-dark paint used for the print on both front and back.
The front of the Pirates of the Caribbean Spirit Jersey has the skull and crossbones seen towards the beginning of your voyage. Underneath the image, it reads “Pirates of the Caribbean.” The back has “Disneyland Resort” on it, like a typical Spirit Jersey.
The Enchanted Tiki Room Spirit Jersey will have you singing like the birdies sing in no time! On the front, Fritz sits in a perch on the upper-left. The pattern on the lower portion is filled with a whole flock of the talented avians along with some tropical flora with good measure. The attraction’s name is actually not present anywhere on the garment, so you will still find “Disneyland Resort” on the back.
The easily-recognizable facade of “it’s a small world” sits on the lower front of its themed Spirit Jersey. The upper-left corner has one of the signs you see as your voyage comes to an end, a flower reading “Good Bye.” Like the Enchanted Tiki Room one, this Spirit Jersey does not have the attraction’s name on it.
The film, Monsters University, also has a Spirit Jersey to call its own. The front has the emblem from Monsters U on it while the back has “Monsters University” written in a font similar to that seen on a Letterman jacket. Perfectly themed.
Special Themes and Versions
Last year’s Minnie Rocks the Dots event brought with it a large amount of merchandise. Among the lot was this themed Spirit Jersey. People have likened the polka dot pattern seen on the bottom to that found on Wonder Bread wrappers… and some of you MiceChat readers will think it looks like a Gumball Rally theme. There are still a few of these currently at the Resort but they will not be restocked.
What’s a party without a Spirit Jersey? Disney California Adventure’s Food and Wine Festival has a Spirit Jersey to call its own. The front has the Pixar Pal-a-Round along the event’s name and year in the upper left corner. The back has a larger image of a pair of wine glasses and the words “Perfect Match.”
The hooded Spirit Jersey has a kangaroo pocket in front and, as the name suggests, a hood. The fabric weight is the same as the standard Spirit Jersey. Currently, the only color available for this style is dark gray. This special style of Spirt Jersey costs $69.99.
Pet Spirit Jerseys
The Disney Tails line of pet products recently launched Spirit Jerseys for pets. They come in three sizes (small, medium, and large). The Black color is above.
And here is the Potion Purple version for pets. Both colors match their human counterparts exactly.
What does this thing look like on something not human? Well, here is the Potion Purple one modeled on Steve the (puppet) Capybara. He measures 18 inches long and fits into the small size quite nicely. Thanks, Steve!
Kid Sized Spirit Jerseys
The Kids’ designs definitely have a more cartoon-y feel to them. There are styles modeled after Mickey as well as Minnie (see below for that one). Another has Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald on the back, mingling behind “Disneyland Resort,” with Mickey and the letter “D” in Disney’s stylized font on the upper-left corner in front.
You see that Millennial Pink Spirit Jersey next to the Minnie one? There is a matching adult version as well. There are several other Kid-sized Spirit Jerseys that match Adult ones, including Cotton Candy and Black.
Retired Spirit Jerseys
Once upon a time, there were four princess-inspired Spirit Jerseys sold at Disney Parks. Themed to Aurora, Ariel, Cinderella, and Snow White, they were dyed in each corresponding princess’s color scheme and had a themed icon on the front’s upper-left (Cinderella’s slipper, for example). This style has since found its “Happily Ever After” and been discontinued.
The seasonal style of the Ugly Sweater Spirit Jersey began during 2017’s winter holidays and has since seen a return in 2018. Like any seasonal item, it is a limited release and no longer available.
Our Top 5 Spirt Jerseys
Here is the hardest part. This is where narrow it down to our top five favorite Spirit Jerseys.
Cotton Candy Spirit Jersey – Aptly named because the hues on this Spirit Jersey look good enough to eat! Plus, this color is available in both adult and children’s sizing. So if matching shirts are a thing that your family loves to do, this is also an option.
Enchanted Tiki Room Spirit Jersey – All of the attraction-based Spirit Jerseys are pretty spectacular but this one is both eye-catching and does a great job of fitting the show’s theme.
Hooded Spirit Jersey – It is great to see innovative changes in this line and this one works well with a good portion of the seasons in Southern California. It would be great to see other colors with hoods in the future. We’d also like to see them experiment with other types of fabrics.
Mickey and Friends Spirit Jersey for Kids – Okay, even us adults would totally rock this fun design if we could. Please make an adult version Disney . . . TAKE MY MONEY!
Potion Purple Spirit Jersey for Pets – Another Spirit Jersey innovation worth celebrating. The Black version is great as well but we prefer the Potion Purple one just a little bit more. More colors and designs would be welcome in this style, too.
