Need a break from all that Star Wars news? Ready to be jealous beyond all compare? Ok, I’ve got you covered, let’s take a visit to always magical Tokyo Disneyland. . .
Soaring: Fantastic Flight & Mark Twain Riverboat
Yes, they’ve even found a way to make Soarin’ better . . . by adding a “G” . . . and some fantastic new details.
Soaring: Fantastic Flight
Based on the popular attraction, Soarin’ Around the World, the attraction at Tokyo DisneySea will feature new scenes and visuals for an Japan-exclusive experience.
Soaring: Fantastic Flight will take Guests on a journey over some of the world’s most famous landscapes while they experience the “breezes and scents” that match the various scenes. Guests of all ages can look forward to experiencing this attraction.
The Story: On the Mediterranean Harbor Hill there is a special museum, a fantastic flight museum, that honors human dreams of flying in the sky. Today, at this museum, a special exhibition is held that reflects the life of Camellia Falco, a woman who was passionate about the study of flight, dreaming of the future and continuing her efforts.
Guests who visit the museum visit the hall while watching various exhibits and enter the special exhibition gallery honoring Camellia’s achievement. Then, guests experience a mysterious encounter with Camelia’s spirit, and finally get on board a “dream flyer”, Camelia’s flying ride. Camellia believed that “If you have imagination and ability to dream, you can voyage beyond space-time and go anywhere.”
Mark Twain Riverboat
Mark Twain Riverboat is an elegant, 3-deck “floating palace,” which takes Guests on a leisurely trip down the Rivers of America. The attraction is even more romantic at night when the steamboat is all lit up.
Shinryo Corporation will sponsor both Soaring: Fantastic Flight (which is set to open on July 23 at Tokyo DisneySea) starting February 21 AND the Mark Twain Riverboat at Tokyo Disneyland starting July 1. With the participation of Shinryo Corporation, there will be 27 companies sponsoring facilities at Tokyo DisneySea and 28 companies at Tokyo Disneyland.
Their motto: “Shinryo Corporation: Always Striving to Realize a Freshening World.”
“Shinryo Corporation operates under the corporate vision “create a clean and fresh world” which encapsulates the company’s desire to provide optimal and sustainable environments that enrich lifestyles with new possibilities. At Tokyo DisneySea and Tokyo Disneyland, Oriental Land Co., Ltd. strives for an environment that can be enjoyed by people of all ages from around the world, bringing a smile to every face. This mutual desire to offer a comfortable and pleasant environment is behind Shinryo Corporation’s decision to become a corporate sponsor.”
No word if any of their hotels are nearby, but their Akita Castle Hotel is incredible. It’s a mere 7 hours north of the resort, but if you’re checking out the Castle ruins, it’s the place to be.
Shinryo started in 1956 doing HVAC and grew to a multinational corporation encompassing hotels, CAD development, shopping centers, skyscrapers and more. I loved reading their company philosophy, especially about workers having a comfortable place to do work that makes their families proud. Wish most US companies still worked that way.
Song of Mirage to Replace Shadowlands
In this show, Mickey Mouse and his Disney pals go on an adventure to seek out the Rio Dorado (Spanish for “golden river”) and its legendary city of gold. The show begins in an old airplane hangar in Lost River Delta where Goofy, a pilot, is taking it easy. A trio of adventurers – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck – make their way into the hangar. Donald has picked up a mysterious staff which magically leads them on an exciting adventure. Mickey and his friends learn that to reach the elusive city of Rio Dorado, they must strongly believe that dreams do come true. As the mysterious staff points the way, they discover exciting worlds – a paradise of plants, a cavern of gorgeous crystals and ancient verdant ruins – where they have some wonderful encounters as lively rhythms surround them. Then as the power of their wishes reaches a climax, a bright fanfare is heard and before their eyes the vast, majestic land of Rio Dorado appears. Swept up by all they see, they join in an enthusiastic celebration. Set to open July 23.
Easter Returns
Disney’s Easter took a year off for the 35th anniversary celebrations, but this year it’s back and more colorful than ever. The Disney Friends gather with unique artists from four of the themed ports to put on a fun festival of color in “Fashionable Easter.”
Mickey and Minnie sail into Mediterranean Harbor as celebratory spring music announces the start of the festival. They are followed by artists dressed in special Easter fashion from American Waterfront, Lost River Delta, Mermaid Lagoon and Mysterious Island.
You can find members of Tokyo DisneySea Maritime Band at Waterfront Park, wearing bunny-eared Easter “Bunny” Bonnets, and dressed in colorful costumes. A “Fun Custodial” Cast Member (streetmosphere?) brings Easter fun to American Waterfront.
There will be about 80 types of items themed to “Fashionable Easter” featuring designs of the Disney characters as fashion models. You can also get stationery, tableware and other items featuring designs of Easter egg artwork with the Tokyo Disney Resort 35th “Happiest Celebration!” and “Fashionable Easter” attire worn by the Disney Characters.
Of course any Tokyo Disney Parks celebration includes special menus as well. Cafe Portofino will offer a carbonara pasta dish as part of a special set, and at New York Deli, Guests can enjoy shrimp and taramo salad served on a pink bun(ny).
Note: Special merch and menus will be available from March 20 onward.
Egg Hunt in Tokyo DisneySea
In this program (offered for a fee), Guests use hints written on a special map to find the Easter eggs that are hidden around the Park. The eggs are designed with Disney Characters and feature motifs of each themed port. Guests who successfully find the eggs will receive a Bunny Ears hair clip available exclusively for participants of this program. Guests can enjoy wearing this hair clip with the Bunny Ears Headbands for an even more fashionable Easter experience.
There will be a new photo location at Waterfront Park inspired by a fashion show runway.
Guests will also find decorated eggs with motifs representing each themed port, as well as baskets and old-fashioned vehicles filled with colorful flowers and eggs for a festive springtime feel.
Guests can also enjoy “Disney’s Easter” at Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta. The restaurants and lounge will be serving special menus that feature dishes using ingredients of the season and that are inspired by Easter eggs, the Easter “Bunny” Bonnet and colorful flowers.
Cutbacks at The Disney Ambassador Hotel?
Starting this January, the Disney Ambassador Hotel discontinued the stocked refrigerator in rooms, some special resort event participation and bell service to guests’ rooms. I’m guessing this is a budgetary cutback, which is unfortunate.
Their special resort rooms are the best. Check out the Kingdom Hearts themed rooms available until June 30:
The keyblade key can actually be used to open the door.
Plus, you get two commemorative postcards
They’re a little over $400 US per night and sleep up to 3 people. RESERVE HERE
They also have Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale, Stitch, Donald and Fantasia rooms!
Of course, there’s a special menu:
Hyperion Lounge:
■ Chocolate mousse and hazelnut cream, decorated baked snacks designed with sugar candy key blade and series motif, surrounded with sea salt taste jelly. The cake set is topped with a key visual from “Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance“.
■ “Kingdom Hearts” special drink

Yogurt flavored whipped cream, nata de coco, and aloe, based on sea salt ice cream.
In addition to the heart-shaped chocolate, It’s a yummy reminder of the “Kingdom Hearts” series and it has a soda-flavored ice bar coated with sea salt syrup.
