Just when I thought that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter couldn’t possibly be any more magical, Universal Studios Hollywood ups the charm-factor! From now through January 6th, you can experience Christmastime festivities in the Wizarding World.
The quaint town of Hogsmeade comes alive with decor uniquely themed to each storefront. The seasonal touches add such a warm, welcoming feel.
You can get into the Christmas spirit by watching a performance of the a cappella Frog Choir, comprised of Hogwarts students and their giant throaty frogs, who return to entertain guests with their harmonized holiday-themed songs. I absolutely love how talented these singers are!
If you work up an appetite, be sure to stop by The Three Broomsticks to try out their holiday fare! I really enjoyed our plate generously filled with carved turkey and traditional sides.
Plan for a full day at the park because, for the first time ever, guests can experience glistening snowfall (snoap) along the streets of Hogsmeade while sipping on a satisfying cup of Hot Butterbeer.
And the main reason to make a day of it happens at night: The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry comes to life with “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle” projection show. We were dazzled by the colorful imagery and impressive dimensional animations that dance across Hogwarts castle in tandem to a musical arrangement from the Harry Potter movies. I didn’t want it to end!
Take a look below. You’ll miss out on the scale of the show from watching the video, but even still, it is incredibly beautiful. The sound is enveloping and the trees throughout the area light up with the show. So think of this more as a teaser:
On our recent visit, I was so captivated by the Wizarding World that I wanted to take a piece of it home with me. Lucky for me, there is holiday merchandise, including a variety of decorative snow globes, stockings, and mascot ornaments representing each of the Hogwarts houses, as well as a collection of unique tree toppers and house pennant garland. Makes me wish I had an infinite stash of galleons at my local Gringotts Bank branch.
