Hello, and welcome to Dateline Disney World! This week we’re headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to see what’s new in the park . . . and what’s about to go in just a few days.
Welcome to Animal Kingdom!
Beautiful day at the park.
Let’s head a little closer to the Tree of Life.
There’s some work happening on the trails. There are signs warning you that you can’t get all the way through.
Another warning.Turns out they were right, dead end.We still love these up close views of the Tree of Life.
An animal enclosure across from Pizzafari is closed for refurbishment.Walls sponsored by Otter Box.Family style dining that requires a reservation at Pizzafari is a little sad, but here we are.Let’s go through the mist and into Pandora.
Crazy to think this land has been open for almost 18 months already.
Beautiful Harambe.
Nice sunset in the park on this trip!
Some of the details of the Harambe Market.
Sadly, these locations close far too early. I’d love to see them stay open later, the park was certainly crowded enough for it.
Rafiki’s Planet Watch will close on the 21st. It is, however, scheduled to reopen in 2019.
It’s strange that Planet Watch is closing at a time Animal Kingdom is experiencing record attendance. Is this just budget cutting in the way the closure of Wonders of Life was at Epcot? Or is there something exciting (or not) on the way? Disney indicates that the closure is temporary and that the area will return. But fans are speculating on what might be on the way. Could it be Zootopia? Wakanda? Wizard of Oz? Or is this just a refurbishment?
Long construction walls across from the Up theater.Do they need these extended queues for this show?
The walls end near the bridge back to Discovery Island from Asia. There’s some work happening over at the old Coca-Cola location as well.Looks like a seating terrace or a bar going in there. This is across the bridge, where the old Jungle Book character meet and greet was.
Another look at the beautiful sunset.
Time to head out!
