As all good Disney fans already know, the Star Wars saga is set to come alive at Disneyland in time for the summer of 2019. We’ve been tirelessly covering the construction and news as it has been leaking out for years. Today is another one of those days. David Koenig first wrote on MiceChat last year that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge would serve up adult beverages, today we have some additional details about the land’s planned Cantina thanks to a post by project lead and Disney Imagineer Scott Trowbridge. We’ll fill in the blanks for you.

, The Cantina at the Edge of the Galaxy
Oga’s Cantina, as seen in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge model.

The new family-friendly lounge will be called Oga’s Cantina and will serve themed specialty drinks for adults and kids alike. Since the Cantina and entire land are full immersion in the Star Wars universe, all available items are inspired by intergalactic adventures. The beverages will be served in unique vessels with interesting preparations (think bubbles, fog, colors, and illumination). This will be the only publically available bar in all of Disneyland, so it’s sure to be highly sought after. And at an approximate capacity of 150 guests, will likely come with a time limit as well.

Guests won’t be able to order off-menu at Oga’s – that means if you’re looking for a vodka tonic, you’d best continue your search in another star system. Additionally, the beverages must be consumed inside the Cantina – you won’t see guests walking around with alcohol as they can do in DCA. It’s also unlikely that food will be served in the Cantina when the land opens. However, there will be options for food nearby.

, The Cantina at the Edge of the Galaxy

The Cantina at Black Spire Outpost will serve “pilots, bounty hunters, smugglers, locals and galactic travelers alike.” Sounds a lot like the famous Mos Eisley Cantina from A New Hope.

Cue the music:

The Cantina will be “run” by an alien character named Oga Garra and populated with all sorts of rogues and scallywags.

Musical entertainment will be led by RX-24, you’ll remember him best as your Star Tours pilot “Rex.” At Oga’s he’s been put into service as the Cantina DJ. True to his previous character, he retains his goofy personality and continues to do his best to keep everything from falling apart under his watch. It’s an interesting nod to the past and shows how familiar storylines will weave through the land.

Though we focused on Disneyland, Oga’s Cantina will also be found at Walt Disney World’s version of Galaxy’s Edge.

Well folks, are you ready to visit Oga’s place? Are there drinks from the Star Wars Universe you hope to try? There are no current plans for additional bars in Disneyland at this time; however, would you like to see expanded service of beer, wine and specialty drinks in the table service restaurants throughout the park (as they’ve done at the Magic Kingdom in Florida)?
