Two weeks left of Pixar Fest and then it’s Halloween for the Disneyland Resort. But you’ll find signs of the spooky season everywhere. There’s something else that’s spooky at the Disneyland Resort . . . the west end of Downtown Disney . . . but that was Friday’s tale. You can read more about that HERE. But for now, let’s continue on as . . .
Halloween Time Approaches
As you’ve likely noticed in our photos this past summer, the parks have been blissfully uncrowded on most days (the evenings remain busy as folks show up for nighttime spectaculars and parades). But the pattern will change in the coming weeks as annual passes are unblocked, surge pricing eases and hoards of passholders descend upon the resort to check out the Halloween decor.
Some new Mansion items in New Orleans Square.
Anything Mansion related is always popular . . . especially headed into fall. Disneyland’s Mansion will turn 50 in August of next year. Expect to see more merchandise it gets closer.
DCA seems to be well stocked on Halloween items right now. Including lots of kids costumes.
Some of these costumes look like they’re much better quality than in previous years.
And the Home Store in Downtown Disney has a few items at the front of the store as well.
Main Street Refurb
There’s quite a bit of exterior refurbishment being conducted on Main Street.
All of the establishments remain open except for the Main Street Cinema.
Some temporary ramps have been installed so wheelchairs can navigate the curbs during construction. Unfortunately, they are uneven and pose a tripping hazard. Solving one problem and causing another.
Adventureland Construction
Work continues on Tiki Room/Tropical Hideaway. The Tiki Room refurbishment will be completing on September 20th. Although, there is still no date for Tropical Hideaway.
But never fear . . . the Dole Whip stand remains open for business!
New Orleans Square
The construction on the garden space along New Orleans Square’s Esplanade Road continues.
The Haunted Mansion is scheduled to close today to begin its holiday conversion. But before Disney closed the attraction, another construction wall along the garden space in front of the Mansion. They are most likely removing portions of this garden space to help widen this walkway prior to Star Wars Land opening this coming June.
Over in Frontierland, between the Rivers of American and Big Thunder Mountain, this looks like a construction wall, but this is also the spot where Disney hides some of the Mickey Halloween Party candy stations during nonparty times.
But it does look like there is pavement work going on inside the space.
Disney has a few of these pop up around the park during the Halloween Season but Frontierland is always the most prominent one since it’s a long one of the main arteries of the park.
Star Wars Land
Star Wars Land continues to grow just around the river’s bend. If you did not see the new aerial images, be sure to take a look here.
Matterhorn Refurb
The water is off and the lagoons drained at the Matterhorn as its long refurbishment continues.
Tomorrowland Mural
When I walked past the Tomorrowland mural the other night it looked completely black. So I asked Dusty to snap some daylight pics . . .
There are two murals that face each other. This one featured large spaceships which look like Space Mountain. The other mural is Star Tours themed (it’s still there). According to several Disney events we’ve been to over the years, the heavily damaged original Mary Blair mural is under these panels.
There are just a couple of weeks left of the Pixar Pals Dance Party. While it doesn’t quite fit Tomorrowland, it is cute and upbeat. This would have been even better had they upscaled it a bit and staged it in the Monster’s Inc courtyard at DCA instead.
