Let’s return to the Disneyland resort and check in on DCA and the various projects and activities in the park. I’m lucky to have two great photographers join me today. Both Scott Attula and Stephenie Pashkowski share some dazzling night shots while I melt away in full sunlight. Hey, who gave out these assignments?!
Annual Pass Blockouts 2019
Well folks, it sure does look like Disney is planning for July 2019 to be a blockbuster month. The blockout schedules for July 2019 are out and if you are a Deluxe passholder, you won’t be visiting Disneyland in July. But the good news is that DCA will be available to you.

Disneyland’s Deluxe Pass Blockout for 2019:

DCA’s Deluxe Blockout Schedule for 2019:

Of course, this all has to do with Star Wars Land. The week of June 24th is likely to be the official opening. Hotels in the area are also seeing heavy booking for that weekend with some hotels already sold out. Now, keep in mind that Disney hasn’t announced an official opening date, so things can still change, but it sure does look like the last week of June points towards the unveiling of Galaxy’s Edge.

Pixar Pier
Pixar Pier is starting to show some wear and tear. While it was too hot in the area for me to spend a long time out in the sun (I was literally melting), I couldn’t help but notice the extensive rust throughout the land.
If the lagoon looks a new shade of brown, that’s because it is. A couple of months ago we were complaining that the water was too clear and perhaps they should color it to hide the World of Color platforms when they are submerged. Now the water looks the same rusty color as the platforms themselves. Can’t help but wonder if this is intentional or they had a backflush of rusted water enter the lagoon.

The new Incredibles fountain, which backs up to the carousel, is looking a little rough.

And first blush you’ll see a lot of what looks like stains.

But there’s rust all over it. . .

Even the concrete retaining wall is looking stained and unfinished.

But none of that looks as horrible as the up-lights under the coaster. They are all covered in rust.

We had some folks ask in a previous update about the cost of playing the games on the boardwalk.

The line to get a Memory Refresher was about 20 minutes on Wednesday.

The Bing Bong wall continues to change. When the store opened there was a white curtain with a crayon sketch of Bing Bong (with the nose coming out of the curtain). Then they removed the nose. Now they’ve replaced the curtain entirely and replaced it with and image-wrapped wall.

Bugs Land / Marvel Land
The future Marvel Land is still crawling with bugs . . . but not for much longer. This land will be exterminated in September.

The Blueberry Scout Jamboree continues. They have coloring tables and face painting.

The construction walls around the old Tough to be a Bug Theater have pushed out further than before.

It’s a bit of a confusion that the Radiator Springs Racers Fastpass Distribution sign is still up near the Bugs Life Theater (off the parade route). However, the actual distribution has been moved closer to the attraction itself.

Of course, all of this will soon be a place for superheroes.

Now, let’s enjoy some really beautiful night shots from Scott . . .

Hollywood Land Summer of Heroes
Summer of Heroes continues in Hollywood Land. But there’s not much of it to see.

The new Pixar Shorts are fun. The three previous ones have moved to Tomorrowland.

The sun was blazing and Captain America wasn’t at his shield photo-opp.

He was meeting under the shade structures near Black Panther. Always thought the shield was in the wrong spot for guests and superheroes alike.

With so little else to do in this corner of the park, lines for Monster’s Inc can get lengthy.

Cars Land
Not to be outdone, Stephenie also shares some glorious night shots.

This and That
Stephenie went in search of the new Coco mouse ears and found that they were sold out! But the wonderful Disneysweetstuff of Instagram has a great photo:
But we did find some fun Explorer Scout ear hats.

Some neat double sided mugs on Buena Vista Street:

The Red, White and Blue collections are just about to be replaced with Halloween merchandise in the stores.

The Monday Disneyland Update mentioned Disney’s plans to do away with straws. We imagine that the fancy themed straws will continue to be available.

Speaking of the straws. We conducted a little poll to gauge your reaction . . . seems that the results of the poll were very different than the heated comments:

With the heat come huge lines for the water rides . . . so we weren’t at all surprised by what we found at Grizzly.

But this line isn’t for standby . . . it’s Fastpass return. They STILL haven’t figured out how to speed Fastpass guests through the scanners without long backups. Unfortunately, this causes backups in the walkways which block shop entries and confuse guests. At Grizzly, far too many standby guests mistakenly get in the Fastpass return lines because it looks as though that is where they should go . . . until they get to the first sign which tells them that they’ve waited for nothing. Not cool.

Mickey and Friends Parking Lot Expansion
The project to expand the parking structure is really moving fast.

Pixar Play Parade and Paint the Night Extended
Disney has announced that the two Pixar parades will be extended beyond the September 3rd conclusion of Pixar Fest. But it does look like the Remember Dreams Come True Fireworks are returning on schedule.
