Welcome back to the Farm. It’s nearly back to school time, but Knott’s is still in full high season mode. Let’s do a quick run around to see what’s new before summer melts away. But beware . . . there’s a monster at the end of this update!
Ghost Town Alive continues to delight guests daily. If you haven’t seen it, it’s interactive theater that takes over the Ghost Town section of the park. Become part of the story of the town of Calico, or just wander through and enjoy all the extra activity. Still fun every single time I see it.
The restrooms in the middle of Ghost Town (near the Stagecoach Station and the Indian Trails stage) are being refurbished. I hope they’ll finally be adding dividers between the urinals.
Heading over to the Boardwalk Section. Stopping to watch Beach Blanket Beagle because it’s amazing.
Before we head into the theater, Knott’s has renamed Hollywood Hills Pizza to Beachy Keen’s Pizza. This feels temporary and will likely be removed once the Summer season is over.
Looks like Knott’s is trying to capitalize on the Dole Whip Craze.
Let’s head into the theater to cool off and to watch the awesome show. I cannot recommend this show enough.

Speaking of the Beagle, August 10th is Snoopy’s 50th birthday!
Moving down the boardwalk . . . just after our last article posted, Knott’s reopened Wipeout in a slightly shifted location.
Unfortunately, the queue is not covered at all. A simple tilt roof or canopy coving would go a long way here. So many other improvements in this area, we hope that some enhancements are still on the way for this attraction as well.
Knott’s shifted the Smoking Area for the boardwalk near Wipeout’s exit area. It was previously next to Coaster’s Dine-In.
Knott’s has placed an ice cream cart in each of the lands for summer.

Just outside the park, Knott’s has opened a new Bakery Express counter, which replaces Cinnabun.
Doughnuts seem to be popular in all the parks these days.

As the sun goes down, it’s time for me to head back into the park to watch the Calico Mountain Jamboree. I was able to rewatch the show for the second time this summer and I still stand by my original review. It’s not my favorite show. But I do have some video for you below so you can see it for yourself:

If you hear distant screams . . . it’s because Halloween is on the way. All of the area parks are preparing for the spooky season, which has become one of the most lucrative times of year for theme parks. Knott’s has teased a bit of info for what we can expect in 2018:
The 46th season Knott’s Scary Farm will return with 14 mazes and haunted attractions and over 1,000 monsters lurking in the fog for 25 terrifying nights:
- This year, a new and unearthly scare zone is making its sinister arrival to the park, for the first time the lake underneath Silver Bullet reveals the horrors and creatures it’s kept hidden, until now. Forsaken Lake will unleash gothic creatures, which have been ravaged by the dark and murky waters, as they wander their crypts preying on unsuspecting visitors, looking for victims to drag back to their watery graves.
- At Knott’s Scary Farm, the park is the attraction and this year it will feature several new upgrades like, freshly new themed landscaping, enhanced ride lighting – HangTime will debut it’s never-before-seen Halloween inspired lighting scheme – plus, there will be a select rollercoasters in the dark and newly enhanced park décor.
- Ghost Town Streets, Carnevil and The Hollow scare zones will return to terrorize guests every night of Knott’s Scary Farm. The monsters that live within these streets will cover every inch of the park midways, leaving nowhere to hide.
- There will be a new dance party at Fiesta Village which will feature rhythmic music, performances by a live DJ throughout the night, dancing and sugar skull go-go dancers with Awaken the Dead.
- The full 2018 Knott’s Scary Farm lineup will be revealed on August 30th at the Knott’s Scary Farm Announcement event, this event is open to Knott’s Berry Farm Season Pass holders.
- Knott’s Scary Farm will return from September 20th – October 31st, 2018.
