Michael Aiello, Senior Creative Director of Universal Orlando Resort, was on hand for the premiere!

Michael discussed how they moved away from the concept of the old lagoon show, which was essentially three different shows with the same content in different parts of the park. This one includes one main viewing area, and the whole show takes place near the Transformers side of the lagoon. The Central Park area now holds up to 6,500 people in the viewing area.

The fountains and tech are very reminiscent of World of Color at California Adventure, and that is a good thing.

In addition to the 120 fountains, there are mist-screen projections from the films that inspire the rides in the park.

Fireworks shoot off of the top of the buildings behind the show as well.

Overall, this show is entertaining, cinematic, visually breathtaking at moments and a major upgrade from Universal’s previous nighttime show. So it’s a net positive for the park. Switching to a single viewing area really helps the show and allows for tighter control of the viewer experience. The whole show is a love letter to the current parks and the attractions in them.
