Hello my sweets (and I don’t mean those no-longer-available because of the fights breaking out in the queue  limited time only Dole Whip Doughnuts. Wait, was that right? Eh, close enough. I’ll be having one of those Mint Chip Shakes Scott-Scott AT-AT was going on about this week from Schmoozies.)

Speaking of which, Pixar Fest is going on. Take your selfie at the #pixarwall in Knick’s Knacks, see the parades and fireworks before things get REALLY crowded after Memorial Day, and eat all the food, because it is good. I love the idea of the trading charms and I hope that it carries on to other Disney “best friends”, too. Like Kylo Ren and his Grandfather’s mask.

PIXAR FEST

Disney’s summer celebration this year is Pixar Fest. This is a callback to events that Disneyland used to have back in the 80s like Blast to the Past, State Fair, Family Reunion, etc. (but not Circus Fantasy. I’ll fight you.) This event involves two parades, an all-new fireworks show, a substantial amount of festival foods and merchandise, Pixar characters all over the place and some really good entertainment.

I mentioned previously that on Saturday, June 23, at 11AM, you might want to be at the Disneyland Hotel’s Mark Twain Room in the Frontierland Tower, Legendary actor and philanthropist Ed Asner is going to have a fan meeting.

Here’s just a little of his Disney pedigree: He played Hank Cooper in Gus, Horace McNickle in the Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color episode “The Christmas Star”, Grumps in Bonkers, Georgie’s “evil voice” in Dinosaurs, Hudson, Jack Danforth, and Burbank in Gargoyles, Thaddeus T. Third V in Recess, Mentor in Hercules: The Animated Series, Fixer in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Napoleon in W.I.T.C.H., and Mr. Big in Teamo Supremo. Oh, and there was that small art film, UP.

Joining Ed on stage is author, writer, director and producer Jeff Kurtti. After Ed and Jeff share some of Ed’s stories about his life and work, Jeff will tell us about his new book, “Travels with Walt Disney” . Jeff is one of the most well-known and well-respected Disney history authors out there. Having him make a live appearance is a real treat. He wrote Since The World Began, The Art of Disneyland, The Art of Tangled, Disneyland Through the Years, Walt Disney World – Then, Now, Forever (with Bruce Gordon) and many more incredible Disney books.

Give Kids the World’s Henri Landwirth Dies

Details on his life celebration April 28 at the GKTW Village in Kissimmee here.

Landwirth, who spent his youth in Nazi death and labor camps during World War II, during which he lost everyone in his family except his twin sister, came to America with $20 in his pocket and served in the Army. He used his GI benefits to learn Hotel Management and managed the Motel in Cocoa Beach while the Astronauts stayed there during the days of the original Mercury space flights, making lifelong friends with Astronauts and legendary newsmen along the way.

“With the original astronauts, Henri founded the Mercury Seven Foundation, now known as the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to promising young science students. Through the Fanny Landwirth Foundation, named for his mother, he built a senior citizen center, a children’s school in Orlando, and created a scholarship program for underprivileged children in Israel.

“In 2000, Henri founded Dignity U Wear, an organization that provides hope to children and their families who are homeless, abused, abandoned or neglected by providing them with new clothing.” -GiveKidstheWorld.org
