Big news from Universal Studios Florida! This week, Fast and Furious Supercharged soft opened at the park, and we were there to cover it. Let’s take a look at the latest offering from Universal Orlando Resort . . .
Welcome to Universal Studios Florida!Fast and the Furious merchandise at the main shop.
Pretty flowers planted at the entrance of the new attraction. There will be a virtual line similar to the Tonight Show attraction.
Glad this fountain from the Beetlejuice days has survived!Dom’s car.
Team Member attire for the new attraction.
Height requirements.
This is just beyond the entrance to the queue.Family BBQ like in the first film.
We then go inside a shop with some flashy cars on display and loud music pumping through.
The attraction doesn’t officially open until May 2nd, which is why they are in technical rehearsals.
References to characters from the films.
Lots of little details here.
The first of two pre-show rooms is called the Family Room, and has a live actor!
We then go into pre-show room number two, the War Room. This is where the main chunk of the story is explained. There’s also another live actor! Major props to Universal for doing that.
From there, you head to the loading dock to board the party bus.
This fun detail shows several electric boxes. The second one over says EQ (Earthquake), the second D! (Disaster!), and the third FF (Fast and Furious), the three different attractions to take place in this spot. The ride system is identical to Skull Island: Reign of Kong. We won’t go too far into spoilers, but if you’ve seen the Hollywood version, it is very similar, with one big scene added, and some scenes plussed, as this is its own attraction, and not part of a tram tour.
I’m going to wait until the ride officially opens to review it for you. But I will say that it’s not unlike the vehicle driving through screens and sets in Kong and about as entertaining as Fallon. This isn’t an E-Ticket like Forbidden Journey or Jurassic Park. But it helps fill in the blanks and offers a high energy experience for park guests.
If you’ve had a chance to ride the attraction, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
That does it for this week. What do you think of this attraction so far? Will you be making the trip out to the park to ride it? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
