In a shocking bit of news, Tom Staggs is stepping down as Disney COO. Tom was being groomed to take over as Disney CEO when Bob Iger’s contract ends. This leaves succession wide open, perhaps even for someone from outside the company to be be tapped for the position by the board of directors.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on who you’d like to see take the top spot at Disney when Iger eventually departs. We’d also like to know what you think prompted Tom’s untimely departure? Was it cost overruns of nearly all of Parks and Resorts big projects (Shanghai, MyMagic+, Avatar), production delays on major construction projects, profit shortfalls at the international parks, or failure to fully step up to the challenges of running the TV networks, films and Star Wars/Marvel divisions? Let us know what you think.
