The holidays are officially over at the Magic Kingdom, and that means refurb season is in full swing. Let’s take a look at what is happening at the park, including a look at the Skipper Canteen!
Welcome to the park!The Train Station and Mickey floral are back to their normal, colorful selves.Awesome new poster under the Train Station for Hall of Presidents.Main Street is back to normal
The new view of the castle from the Partner’s Statue. Note the four lighting tower turrets which expand the scope of the Castle.
This pathway has been open on and off on my last few visits. It looks to be almost fully completed.
Skipper Canteen is open in Adventureland, and while I can’t afford to eat there, the CMs were kind enough to let me in for a few photos.Entrees range from $23 to $28. Here’s the menu.

Lots of great detail, most of which ties in directly to the Jungle Cruise or the Society of Explorers and Adventurers.

Dr. Albert Falls!Pretty neat. The food here is a little exotic and a little expensive, but based off of what I’ve heard from those who have eaten there, it is a great change of pace from burgers and chicken.Country Bear facade is complete and looking good after being recently refurbished.Didn’t take long for Pecos Bill to put a burger back on the menu.Beautiful afternoon light on the Rivers of America.Splash Mountain was running despite temperatures in the low 40s.It only had a 5 minute wait, though.

There is a crane on site for removal of the holiday lights from Cinderella Castle.The Cinderella fountain is visible again after a lengthy refurbishment.
Heritage House is being used as an indoor seating area. I wonder when they’ll move the Americana type merchandise back into here and out of the Christmas shop.
There was a Main Street Vehicle out at 5:30 pm, a rare occasion for Magic Kingdom.The CMs said it was only out for photos, though.

This is the latest from Magic Kingdom, but here’s what else is going on in the Disney World:
Disney’s Animal Kingdom will host a Zootopia exhibit scheduled to start January 29, located inside the conversation station at Rafikis Planet Watch. You’ll be able to take an in depth look at the behind-the-scenes research the Walt Disney animation team did right in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney Golf has launched a new promotional deal called Play around the World, which allows you to play on each of Walt Disney World’s four golf courses for a discounted fee. Info HERE
Epcot’s Canada pavilion has introduced TradNation, a musical group showcasing the rich, cultural heritage of French Quebec. Performances are scheduled 5 days a week by the Mill stage in the Canada pavilion.
