I always like to dedicate the first Park Wise of the year to my Disney resolutions and getting to read some of yours, too! It’s fun to know we have 365 (plus one more this year!) days of possibility for magic! Without further ado, my third installment (has it really been that long?) of Disney resolutions.

Disney Destination Hat Trick

While it’s no feat for our crew to hit Walt Disney World multiple times a year, it’s a rare treat that we hop aboard a cruise ship or make it out West. This year, I have my sights set on a triple play. Walt Disney World, Disneyland and a Disney Cruise in 2016! Now that I’m in grad school in addition to teaching full time, this will be a little more of a challenge, but with enough pixie dust, this one should be a lock!

Picture Day

No, not like back in school. This one will be tricky unless I can pull a day by myself in the parks, but I’d love to spend one day just taking pictures. No worrying about rides, shows or shopping. Just me and my Canon roaming the parks, watching the World and snapping away.

Get Park Wise: Don’t forget to label your camera and any gear. While this won’t stop the thieves if you lose track of something, it will help those sweet souls looking to return it to its rightful owner.

Grown-Ups Only

I love, love, love hitting the parks with the littles (well, now not-so-littles) especially now that they’re old enough to have a little autonomy (aka wait for me to ride Tower of Terror) and like to be in on the planning. However, after our grown-up girls only weekend during the Princes Half Marathon last year, I’m hoping to put a kid-free trip on the calendar. It really offers the chance to slow down, linger over those signature meals and sample the adult libations around property.

Get Park Wise: Disney’s Boardwalk Inn proved to be the perfect spot for our grown-ups only getaway. With the Boardwalk, Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall (however lame it may be) just downstairs and the World Showcase a short walk or boat ride away, the location couldn’t be beat!

No Parks (What?!)

Totally counterintuitive for Park Wise, I know. Last summer, we had tacked on a little no parks trip to the end of a larger family vacation to the East coast. Unfortunately, the first part of the vacation kind of fell apart with several family members having to cancel for this or that, but a few of us decided to go ahead and road trip it to the Yacht Club. All of our annual passes had expired and, well, it was summer crowds and temperatures, so no parks held strong. We had a great time! It was nice to just enjoy the pools, visit other resorts for meals, campfires, etc. and just relax. I’d love to try again this summer, however, our active passes would make it a little more difficult to avoid the allure of the parks. pic4

Family Fun

2015 brought the unexpected opportunity to hit the World with some of our extended family who planned a last minute getaway during spring break. The kids and I had already planned to be there with friends, and it was great to be able to meet up with the family and hit the parks. We, of course, have a blast at Disney no matter what, but it was so much fun to do it with cousins, aunts and uncles. This resolution might be the hardest to coordinate, but here’s hoping!
