Happy Dia De Los Muertos folks. Andy Castro is on vacation this week, so I took a quick trip to the Disneyland Resort this past Saturday to fill you in on the latest goings on. These photos were taken on Halloween, but the signs of Christmas are everywhere.

Swarms of people were arriving for Mickey’s Halloween Party.

It was late in the day when I arrived at the resort.  The park was scheduled to close at 7pm to make way for Mickey’s Halloween Party. I had to scramble to grab some photos for you before I lost my light. Disneyland certainly takes on a special glow at dusk. But not easy to take iPhone photos with a lack of illumination. In other words, please excuse the lack of Dateline Disneyland quality images today.  😉

Main Street was Halloween on the exterior, but the shops are beginning to feature Christmas items.

The crowds this entire Halloween season have been huge.

It does not appear that the castle will be getting a holiday overlay this year. In the past, the snow and icicles had already been installed by Halloween.

       IMG_1742

IMG_1744
There were nearly as many adults in costume as kids this year. Observations: very few little girls were dressed as Elsa this year. The most frequent costumes we saw were anything Star Wars, Where’s Waldo, Alice in Wonderland characters, and Inside Out characters.

It’s A Big Holiday After All

it’s a small world is undergoing its annual transformation into Small World Holiday. The lights have already been installed on the facade and you can also see the first signs of the holiday overlay inside.

This is the sign you’ve been looking for!

You can’t quite make it out in the photos, but the walls near the entry of the building have stars painted on them and some lettering saying, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….”

It appears that some sort of signage will be installed here.

Nearby, the Star Trader gift shop is filled to the brim with Star Wars goodies. Most of these items aren’t new, but since the Star Wars craze is just heating up, I thought I’d show you some of my favorite things.

Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy is now closed as the ride is given another overlay, this time for the Seasons of the Force campaign. I’m looking forward to it, what about you?

Sub-par

Unfortunately, things aren’t going quite as swimmingly at the old Submarine Lagoon. The subs are looking pretty shabby and could really use some rust removal and paint.

From a distance, everything looks fine . . .

Downtown Disney

Outside of the parks, Christmas is rapidly taking over Disney’s shopping district.

A Christmas tree has been set up near Earl of Sandwich and the AMC Theaters.

The cute little village huts have also been placed in the area. IMG_1564

And that wraps up this update. Andy will be back soon to cover the spread of Christmas as well as update you on the expansion of the Cove Bar at DCA. Now that Halloween is over, we should enjoy a few weeks of sanity at the parks until Christmas crowds really kick into high gear.

Are you ready for Christmas to hit the parks?

Have a wonderful week everyone, and thank you so much for reading!
