In the midst of packing for the MiceChat Walt Disney World Invasion and having a quick afternoon Kungaloosh with MiceChatter and swell fella David T. at Trader Sam’s, I found some interesting stuff going on. Let’s jump right into it!
Testing Magic Band Tech, Disneyland Style
The Disneyland Resort could possibly become a Walt Disney World style resort in, say, another fifty to a hundred years. Until then, the differences are just too vast in terms of audience and infrastructure. Bob Chapek (Chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts) has his hands full trying to fit a version of MyMagic+, MyDisneyExperience and MagicBands into Disneyland. Monday, a very quiet setup went up at Space Mountain’s queue area, with a square version of the red-and-green light reader, but instead of holding up a wristband, guests held up cards with RFID chips. It looks like the MyMagic+ technology is coming to Disneyland sooner rather than later. But don’t expect the implementation to be exactly like Disney World. More on that as the testing continues.
Sweet Ride for Warm Destinations
I especially like that sand castle. WesJet unveiled its newest jet wrap, and it’s pretty cool. Frozen, in fact. The Frozen themed plane will not only fly to Orlando, but on flights throughout WestJet’s network.
Dreamy Addictive Fun
While I’m waiting at the airport, and at the connecting airport, and for a bunch of other things (I hear buses outrank monorails these days) I’ve found a deliciously fun and addictive game to play, Disney Dream Treats. It’s set in Disney Parks and Resorts; I played first in Akershus Royal Dining Hall with Ariel, then at Disneyland’s Plaza Inn with Chef Mickey, and then with Buzz Lightyear. But, bear with me a sec; wouldn’t it be better to have Ariel at Ariel’s Grotto at Disney California Adventure and Chef Mickey at Chef Mickey’s at Walt Disney World in the Contemporary Resort? This is like Juice Jam, but you play with your own face and you get cool outfits to wear as you work through the levels. I eschewed princess gear for Little Green Men gear. The character modeling is solid and the treats are a lot more interesting. The gameplay is better, too. The physics are great, and you have to be both logical and creative to get through the levels. It’s one of those games that’s easy to learn and difficult to master. Best of all, it’s free from the Apple App Store, Google Playh, Windows App Store and the Amazon App Store
