Ladies and gentlemen it’s an all-new Disneyland Resort update from In The Parks. Have you fully recovered from your D23 hangover by now? Ready for some Disneyland Resort goodness? News is light and breezy this week as much of the big items broke during Disney’s weekend convention.  Shelly and Andy offered a tidal wave of D23 coverage so today we are focusing on what’s going on inside the parks. We are also taking time to simply enjoy a few of the things that we love so much from the Happiest Place on Earth.  Let’s get started.

  • We expect crowds to dip now that summer is ending, however there is still pent up demand for the new entertainment from SoCal Passholders who have been blocked out.
  • Activate Tomorrowplan today and get crowd projections all the way through Halloween. Already a Tomorrowplan user? You’ll get the projections automagically. Tap Tomorrowplan in the Mouseaddict app.
  • Have you checked out the new Wait Watcher feature in Mouseaddict? When you don’t want to wait in a long queue, just tell us how long you’re willing to wait. Wait Watcher will notify you when the wait time reaches that time. Only in Mouseaddict.

The free Mouseaddict app for iPhone and iPad features more than five dozen categories of searchable resort information, weather forecasts, park and show schedules, the latest news and articles from MiceChat, and more. Download free on the App Store or at mouseaddict.com.

Entering Disneyland is like stepping through a magic portal back in time.  Here we see that the park is still celebrating 60 years of magic.

Inside the China Closet, the Fall centerpiece has been installed above the registers and is already gilded with sparkling “diamonds”.

Still no Halloween merchandise in this particular store . . . yet.

Tomorrowland

In Tomorrowland the force is strong after the recent announcements of a Star Wars Land coming to Walt’s original park.

We know that Space Mountain will soon be going down, just after the beginning of September, to switch it over to the wonderfully frightening Ghost Galaxy, opening Sept. 11th.

Innoventions

We also see now that the Innoventions building has received a fresh coat of white paint and a few other upgrades. Star Wars will take the place of the Dream Home downstairs and the Marvel characters will return to the upper level with fancy new digs.

Fantasyland

Stopping through Fantasyland we see that there is some work being done on a few of the teacups at the Mad Tea Party.

They are still running the ride even with one of the smaller turntables off limits.

Frontierland

Despite being 60 years old, the park has never looked better.  Even in the rustic corners of Frontierland we see things are spic and span.

You’ll even see real nature, if you look closely.

The Haunted Mansion

The Mansion will soon be going down to allow Jack Skellington and his crew to move in.  Haunted Mansion Holiday will arrive on Sept. 11th, for the start of Halloween Time.  Let’s take a ride on it before it gets all bright and cheery.

Popping in to DCA we see the first signs of Halloween creeping its way into the stores.

Halloween Time

The Five and Dime is the first store in the two parks to begin carrying Halloween Time merchandise.  It’s actually really good this year!

Monsters Inc.

Speaking of Halloween let’s take a ride on Monsters Inc.  Still one of my favorite little dark rides at the resort, this is a successful example of how a redo of an existing ride can actually work.

That wraps up our coverage of the Disneyland Resort for this week.  We truly hope that you have enjoyed the imagery and bits of magic we brought to you today.  Andy will be back Monday with a brand new Dateline Disneyland.  Until then we will see you In The Parks.

As a special note, tickets have just gone on sale for MiceChat’s annual Knott’s Berry Farm Halloween Haunt event (run by HorrorBuzz this year). As a special surprise, 50 guests will be able to upgrade to meet Elvira herself.  Tickets available here:
