Hot off of the D23 Expo, there is big news of change coming to Hollywood Studios. So, we headed to the park this week to take a look at where some of these projects may go. Let’s check it out!
Welcome to the Studios!Oscar’s truck is back, but parked slightly differently than normal.
One rumor has Star Wars land taking over the Echo Lake area of the Hollywood Studios. The expansion could wrap back toward Indy (taking over the large amount of space for that show) and everything leading to the current Star Tours ride.
Could Echo Lake be the spot of the newly announced 14 acre Star Wars land?Might Gertie the Dino’s days be numbered?Would all of the Indiana Jones things go away as well? Disney was very vague about all of this over the weekend.
We do know however, that by the end of the year, there will be new Star Tours destinations to go along with Episode VII – The Force Awakens. The Jedi Training Academy will also see some tweaks and changes.
The area where the Muppets currently stand is also one of the rumored locations for Star Wars land to go.
It might still feel like summer, but it will be “snowing” here soon enough. As the Osborne Lights have begun installation on the Streets of America.
Millions of dazzling lights.
Perhaps Lights! Motors! Action! will finally bite the dust with the changes coming to the park. In my eyes, it would make sense for Star Wars to be placed as far back into the park as possible for maximum crowd flow benefits.
This area by the Backlot Tour could be an entry/exit area for the newly announced Toy Story Land.
As part of Toy Story Land, Midway Mania is receiving a third track. Which makes sense, seeing as it had a 70 minute wait at 9:10am on a Monday. Will this area still be referred to as Pixar Place? This could also be another entrance to the new Toy Story Land, which will feature a Slinky Dog family coaster and a Green Army Man spinning saucer ride. The Star Wars Launch Bay is also coming to satiate our immediate needs for the Jedi and Sith until the new land is complete. Expect it to go here in the old Animation building.
With news out of the way, here are some pretty pictures.
The flex space theater behind Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is going up quickly.
Halloween merchandise has arrived at the parks. In August, of course!
Time to leave Hollywood and head back to Orlando!
