On Monday, May 11, the world of attractions along International Drive in Orlando went from big to “HUGE,” as the newest member of the ever expanding and changing group of attractions on the iconic street attempts to chomp the competition by combining two of the greatest family owned amusement and zoological companies in one location.
Located on the campus of the Fun Spot America Park, a great amusement park in a sea of Orlando theme parks, is Gator Spot. The attraction features more than 100 alligators (including a rare leucistic “white” alligator, one of only 12 in the world), exotic birds, snakes, lizards, two gigantic aquariums filled with baby alligators and other animals that will interact with guests on a rotating basis.
The jawsome” 15,000 square-foot, reptile oasis is a joint effort between Gatorland®, the Alligator Capital of the World, and Fun Spot America-Orlando Theme Park. Founded in 1998, Fun Spot America-Orlando Theme Park is one of the largest privately held attractions in Central Florida. With two locations, Fun Spot America locations include multiple multi-level Go-Kart tracks, rides, Huge arcades and much more!
GATOR SPOT incorporates several of the nostalgic elements that have dazzled Gatorland guests for more than 65 years. Gatorland is a 110-acre theme park and wildlife preserve, combining “Old Florida” charm with exciting new exhibits and entertainment. The park opened as a roadside attraction in 1949. Today, it provides affordably-priced family fun featuring thousands of alligators, crocodiles, a free flight aviary, breeding marsh with observation tower, petting zoo, nature walk, educational wildlife programs, Gatorland award-winning gift shop, Florida’s best train ride, restaurant, Gator Gully Splash Park and one-of-a-kind shows including the Gator Wrestlin’ Show, Gator Jumparoo, and the ‘Up-Close Encounter’ shows. And don’t miss the world’s largest collection of giant white alligators in the new White Gator Swamp and the all new Screamin’ Gator Zip Line featuring over 1,200 feet of high flying thrills, five intense zip lines and a massive 150-foot suspension bridge over live gators.
