Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort today (Friday, April 14, 2023) can now shop at some newly-reopened stores in Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney: Radiator Springs Curios, WonderGround Gallery, and Disney Home. Here’s the scoop!
[Updated on April 14, 2023, to include photos of the now-reopened stores and the vacant Sprinkles.]
Radiator Springs Curios
Made to resemble those little tourist trappy stands you find by the side of desert highways, Radiator Springs Curios closed its doors even before the Disneyland Resort did in 2020. And it maintains the same feel it had now that it has reopened.
In fact, it may have even more of a tourist stand vibe to it with its inventory that now focuses on MagicBand+’s, shirts, and pins instead of Cars-themed merchandise.
And here is an older photo from days past:
Wonderground Gallery and Disney Home
The two neighboring stores, WonderGround Gallery and Disney Home were temporarily relocated from their original Downtown Disney locations to the old ESPN Zone building and World of Disney on January 9, 2022. The previous locations were then closed up for construction. We can see from the outside that the ceilings in front of both stores have been lowered, perhaps to accommodate new seating above for a new restaurant.
WonderGround Gallery
The WonderGround Gallery is home to different artists’ renditions of beloved Disney friends and attractions and occasional merchandise from Walt Disney World. Once upon a time, it also held “Artist in Residence” events, where guests could watch the different artists as they work (we would love to see this return!).
Here’s a look at the newly reopened WonderGround Gallery!
The overall layout of the store remains the same.
However, there is now art by Joey Chou above some of the displays, which seems to be related to his newly-released Disney Parks merchandise collection.
And WonderGround Gallery is even an Artist Showcase & Signing featuring Daniel Killen and Jasmine Becket-Griffith!
For comparison, here are some older photos of the store from before it closed:
Disney Home
As you might have guessed, Disney Home specializes in home goods. It also has a robust selection of ornaments and is a good place to find seasonal merchandise.
The store seems to be largely unchanged since reopening.
The inventory is also the same, although there might be more tumblers now than we remember in the past.
The seasonal Disney100 merchandise is at the front of the store.
The next rooms house home goods, ornaments, and mugs.
At the very back of the store is the section for Disney Tails line of items made for pets.
And here’s a look at older photos of Disney Home for context:
And Now for the Bad News…
Unfortunately, the Beverly Hills-based bakery, Sprinkles Cupcakes, has permanently closed its Downtown Disney location. We don’t know what will take its place, but we are sad to see them go.
We noticed last night that the old neon “Sprinkles” sign had been removed.
And this sign promising “something new and exciting” was in the window.
