When Disneyland reopened on April 30, the Disneyland Resort was only allowed to accept California residents as visitors. And while the state did eventually loosen restrictions on out-of-state guests, Disneyland stayed the course and has kept the park available only to Californians. However, all that is about to change. Starting June 15, Disneyland will welcome out-of-state visitors again. There is also a major change that will help make planning your trip much easier.

Welcome Back Out-of-State Guests!

Disney announced today that out-of-state guests would finally be able to return to Disneyland for the first time in well over a year starting June 15. That date is also when the current guidelines for the Reopening Blueprint are set to expire, leading to a new set of operational guidelines that are significantly less restrictive. As such, it means that theme parks can welcome back visitors outside of California. However, there are still a few caveats.

As we detailed in this week’s Disneyland Update, the new state guidelines will maintain wearing a face mask while at a “mega-event” like a theme park. As such, the state recommends guests to either be vaccinated or receive a negative COVID test; theme parks are not required to check vaccination or COVID status but includes a self-attestation during the ticketing/reservation process that acknowledges you are aware of risks associated with visiting a highly-populated area.

New Reservation Window

Although out-of-state guests will be allowed back and capacity limits can be increased, Disneyland will still be requiring advance reservations for all visitors. Luckily, the reservation window has been expanded to allow for greater flexibility in terms of planning a Disneyland trip. The new reservation window allows for 120 days in advance— which is double the previous window— and is effective immediately. If you’re an out-of-towner and have been itching to visit Disneyland, now is your opportunity to get back to the magic and plan your visit.
