Walt Disney World just released some very important update to their seasonal offerings. There are some high profile cancelations and one welcome addition to WDW special events.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Canceled

All Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights have been cancelled for 2020

Since these Halloween parties heavily rely on crowd-inducing fireworks, castle show, parade AND character meet & greets, we fully understand the need to cancel this type of activity for the fall season. Though we will certainly miss this popular event.

H2O Glow Nights Canceled

Additionally, the Typhoon Lagoon ticketed event “H2O Glow Nights” will not take place for the remainder of 2020.

Disney has stated that anyone with tickets purchased for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and H2O Glow Nights will receive refunds over the coming weeks.

EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival

Another fall staple and arguably the park’s most popular event, the International Food & Wine Festival will return with several modifications to better accommodate guests with a limited event capacity.

Food & Wine will begin the day EPCOT is slated to reopen, on July 15th, and run through the fall season. The festival will offer over 20 outdoor kitchens spaced out throughout the park.

The festival’s outdoor concert series, Eat to the Beat, will not take place this year as these result in tightly packed crowds.

One fun addition will be some of spring’s Flower & Garden Festival topiaries will be seen throughout the World Showcase, blending the two mega-popular festivals together. Can we call it Flower & Wine already?

Remy is this year’s newest topiary, a perfect fit for Food & Wine… “anyone can cook!”

Since the festival only ran for a few weeks before park closure, Flower & Garden merchandise will also be available for purchase. Remember seeing that adorable Orange Bird collection? Check out the cuteness and beautiful topiaries which await here:

Food & Wine festival merchandise will be available later, after the festival has already begun.

The hybrid festival will be the longest running in Epcot’s history.

What strange times we’re living in…

Looking ahead to the winter season…

Disney is monitoring the local environment closely, and will make a decision to nix or keep 2020 holiday events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays.

These are difficult decisions as these events are proven crowd-pleasers, but too much of a crowd is a problem these days. When could those infamous fireworks shows and parades make a worthy return, even if only for 6-ft spaced apart, mask-wearing families? We’d like to know Disney’s thoughts on that, and yours.
