We have a very special update for you from Disneyland Paris today. While the park remains closed, with no announced reopening (yet), we soar above the resort to show you what’s going on at Disney’s most beautiful Magic Kingdom.
The photos below show a completely empty park, making this an amazing opportunity to take a look we may never get again. The images come from Xian Onemanshow, who produced the video and photos in this article.

One of the unique elements of Disneyland Paris is Frontierland, which is simply huge; it’s the largest land in the park. The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad here is mostly located on an island in the middle of the river. It’s a beautiful, thrilling, and dramatic version of the attraction.
One of Disneyland Paris’ latest additions is the Frontierland Theater, replacing The Chaparral Theater, which debuted a new Lion King show for the 2019 summer season. The Lion King show was announced to return this summer, but that now seems unlikely due to expected social distancing procedures once the parks reopen.
Disneyland Paris has posted a “Virtual Viewing” of the new Lion King show:
Adventureland is a sprawling land. You’ll see the Indiana Jones coaster in the left middle, and a large empty area between the coaster and Pirates of the Caribbean (at the center of the image) where they could one day build the popular Indiana Jones Adventure jeep ride at Disneyland Anaheim (we’d love to see that happen now that Disney owns Lucas Film).
The Disneyland Paris castle has a particularly beautiful and delicate design. But from this view, you can also see how much space it is given and the garden and lagoons which give it extra majesty.
Another of Disney’s virtual viewings was posted of the gorgeous Illuminations show:
With the closure of the parks, the water supply to the outdoor spaces was stopped.
Toad Hall Restaurant is under renovation.
Empty waterways below.
The visitor parking lot for the resort’s two theme parks sits empty in the background.
The panoramic view below shows the Disney Village shopping area, hotels and the Highway coming directly to the Disneyland Paris Resort.
Since the original creation of Euro Disney, agreements with the French government set deadlines for the expansion of the resort. While Disney’s grand designs may have been scaled back somewhat, there are expected enhancements that Disney will need to make in order to meet the terms of their agreement with the government.
To finish our tour here’s a look at the Walt Disney Studios Park. The large area under construction is the upcoming Marvel Land. The land will be similar to the one being built at Disney California Adventure, with a clone of the Spider-Man attraction and Ant-Man microbrewery. The unique element is the retheme of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster attraction into an Iron-man coaster. The land was originally scheduled to open in 2021, but given the length of the resort shutdown, we are expecting delays.
Other Disneyland Paris Updates
- This fall’s RunDisney Paris event has been postponed until next year.
- But that doesn’t mean that the parks won’t be reopening before fall. Dancer and character auditions for Halloween and Christmas have been posted.
- And when will the parks reopen? That’s still unannounced. However, the French government has begun easing shutdowns in the country. Some of the country’s theme parks will be allowed to open as of June 22nd. But officials have said that Disneyland Paris will be closed “at least through July 14”. We expect to hear something official very soon.
