The Walt Disney Company announced it is releasing Frozen 2 on Disney Plus three months ahead of schedule (you’ll find it available TODAY). International subscribers, including Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand will also be able to stream the film on March 17th.
Disney Plus aims to surprise families with “some fun and joy during this challenging period,” referring to the global pandemic of COVID-19, which on Friday was declared a national emergency.
The early release was also announced by Disney on Instagram.

Set three years after the events of the first film Frozen, the story follows Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, who embark on a journey beyond their kingdom of Arendelle in order to discover the origin of Elsa’s magical powers and save their kingdom after a mysterious voice calls out to Elsa.
“Frozen 2 has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time, and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device,” said Disney CEO Bob Chapek in a statement.
Frozen 2 opened in theaters on November 22, 2019 and brought in more than $1.4 billion in worldwide ticket sales, which made it the highest grossing animated film ever. The musical fantasy was directed by the Academy Award®-winning team Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, produced by Peter Del Vecho and songs written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Frozen 2 features the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad.
