Lunar New Year and Food & Wine Festival Return to Disneyland Resort in 2020

Mark your calendars, because the Lunar New Year Celebration and the California Adventure Food and Wine Festival are heading back to the Disneyland Resort in 2020!

Lunar New Year

Starting Jan. 17th thru Feb. 9th, ring in the New Year with the Lunar New Year Celebration! This exciting event will feature a wide variety of foods, live performances and family activities all inspired by rich Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures. One of the highlights of the festivities is “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession.” This show is a “bright and bold performance hosted by Mulan and her faithful dragon, Mushu.” As Disney calls it, 2020 is “The Year of the Mouse”, so keep an eye open to see if our friend Remy from Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouille will be making an appearance.  We are excited to see the Lunar New Year Celebration return to the resort and look forward to seeing what wonderful new experiences are added.

Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival

Disney has announced that the incredibly popular Food and Wine Festival will be returning to California Adventure starting February 28th and ending on April 21st. The event will feature a large selection of specialty foods, beers, and wines from all over the SoCal landscape. It would not be a Disney event if there were not merchandise involved, and Disney has revealed that there will be an all-new line of merchandise tailored specifically for this event.

I can say from personal experience that the Food and Wine Festival is a wonderful event to attend, especially if you are an annual pass holder looking for something new to do in the parks. The “Sip and Savor pass” ($49 for AP Holders and $54 for normal guests during the 2019 Food and Wine Festival) will be available again, and if you are looking for the most cost-efficient way to try the largest variety of foods, I definitely recommend going this route. Some of my personal food favorites from last year were the Creamy Mac n Cheese with Garlic Bread Crumble, Anaheim Chile Relleno Bites with Salsa Verde, Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls, and Artichoke Toast with California Olive Tapenade. I really hope to see these items return during the 2020 festival!

While it may be crowded, the weather tends to be mild in the early part of the year, making for enjoyable weekends. I’m looking forward to announcements on what food and drinks will be available at next year’s festival!
