Sunday morning’s Parks presentation continued with news from Disney Cruise Line. Disney announced the name of its fifth cruise ship will officially be the Disney Wish. The new ship will be delivered in 2021 and set sail in January 2022. Two additional ships will follow in coming years.
Disney Wish will feature a three-story atrium celebrating the theme of wishes.
Rapunzel will be the character featured on the stern of the ship.
The big news for Disney Cruise Line was the announcement of an all-new port of call in the Bahamas. Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde is leading the development of this port, located on the island of Eleuthera’s Lighthouse Point.
Rohde said Disney will be relying on local artists, local culture, and local food to create an experience that honors and celebrates the local Bahamian culture. Disney’s presence on the island will be done in the same vein as Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii — with special consideration of the local environment, peoples, and cultures.
The look of costumes made by local artisans will inform the overall look and feel of Disney’s offerings in Lighthouse Point.
The port promises to be especially beautiful, infused with lots of special Disney magic.
