Are you having Wizarding World withdrawals? Well, now there’s a new reason to head to Universal Studios Orlando to get your fix. But check out that 10 hour line!!! This article has been updated with opening day crowds and wait times. . .
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
Today, the highly-anticipated new ride at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, “Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure,” has opened. We’re ready to fly, what about you?
Guests will soar with Hagrid on a heart-racing ride on a motorbike that plunges forward and backward, at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. Along the way, you’ll cross paths with some of the Wizarding World’s rarest magical creatures. Guests must be at least 48” tall and can choose to either ride on a motorbike or in a sidecar.
Here’s a sneak peek of the family friendly coaster.
Before you ride, it might be a good idea to brush off your textbook copy of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, because there are a lot of creatures scattered throughout the ride. We heard Fluffy will be there to greet you and to keep a lookout for unicorns!
Hagrid’s Motorbikes replaced Dragon Challenge, which was a dueling-coaster attraction that closed in 2017. When Islands of Adventure opened in 1999, this “classic” coaster was originally known as Dueling Dragons, and themed with two dragons, Ice and Fire, battling each other. Although Dragon Challenge will be fondly remembered, Hagrid’s is a perfect addition to the Wizarding World.
You can find this coaster on the Hogsmeade side of Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. We look forward to sharing more details soon. In the meantime, be sure to keep your wits about you! Now… is anyone else disturbed by that Blast-Ended Skrewt?
Opening Day Update (9:30am)
If you build something people want, they’ll show up for it. At opening today, the line for Hagrid’s Motorbikes reached 600 minutes and stretched through the entire park.
Much thanks to our friends at BlogMickey for sharing photos from their epic wait:
Fiber optics are built into the attraction sign to add extra sparkle at night.
The queue has magical details:
Unfortunately, bad weather has resulted in frequent down time for the new coaster today. But crowds remain upbeat in the unrelenting line. What’s the longest you’d wait for a brand new mega-attraction? Should Universal have used virtual queuing for the new attraction, or is a line the most fair way of getting guests from front gate to the enticing new ride?
