What have you been reading lately and why?- Infinte Crisis- I never read this in original print but damn damn damn! For non- comic people- imagine a badass murder mystery surrounded by the likes of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman where one of there own family friends is killed! What can you recommend to others? Hmm tough choice- we are in the midst of heavy events at both Marvel and DC...jumping into fresh issues this summer would be tough! For newbies who want to get an idea of Superman and Batman I recommend hitting your local Barnes and Noble and finding a copy of "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" The art is cartoonish but fun and will give you a great introduction into those two characters and a slew of others! What's the best of the best? DC- last year and currently and next fall! Books are amazing! Marvel's Avenger's Disembled is steller but House of M still has be thinking, too early too tell, I say! Ultimates ranks as one of my favorites as well. Who's your favorite artist/ writer etc? Artists; Lee (Batman: Hush) Campbell (Danger Girls) McGuiness (Batman/Superman) Ramos (Spectacular Spiderman) Hitch (Ultimates) Writers: Loeb (Batman/Superman) Miller (Ultimates) Bendis (Avengers/ House of M) Johns (Infinite Crisis) Miller (Sin City/ Batman: Year One)

![]() | Really Shucks? You like Infinity Crisis? I didn't like it much at all. Mostly because it really was pointless and a let down in the end. The lead up and the mystery was done fairly well, but in the end it was a big "who cares?" Especially when you have to use characters from the famed Giffen/DeMatties/Maguire run on Justice League and the recent reunion of the creative team. Hell, the reunion books sold more than JLA! Why mess with a good thing, I say. But it's all for the "shock" value. The recent offshots like "The Omac Project" looks promising. I read Rann/Thanagar War on my trip and it was middle of the road. Dave Gibbons is a much better artist than writer. The One-shot with the Death of Blue Beetle was an interesting lead in, but again, as far as continuity goes, way out there. Was it a shock to you? Not me, I had heard about it months before and from the Jim Lee cover it was a bit too obvious for me. Hey PirateMunkee! You need to drop Wizard like a hot potato! All that info is so old by the time it gets to you. I've always disliked their partisan attitude towards certain companies, that I won't even read it.Spawn? Blech!!! |

In regards to Marvel- I am thus far not impressed with House of M and or the recent Avengers Disembled nor am I sold on New Avengers...yet. The only shocker to come out of that story was...
Spoiler
The death of Hawkeye
I am enjoying the Young Avengers but still not sure what direction its going and how it will be accepted into the mainstream Marvel Universe.

![]() | Yeah, I've no faith in House of M and if any character's "die" at Marvel, they'll be back within a few years. I think Mar-vell aka Captain Marvel and Bucky are the only one's that have remained dead, although that might change with Bucky soon. Gotham Central is a fine "bat" book. I've pretty much dropped the other Batman books as they've become so uninteresting. Although the Jim Lee/ Frank Miller book is something I might try. Anyone else? Speak!! |

![]() | I also love 40 days of Night about Vampires in Alaska, Pretty Killer and I hear they're making a movie of it. I'm not really into the "Superhero" Titles though. And how dare you mock Spawn. It's not much anymore since McFarlane doesn't have his hands in it much anymore but it's still good. I'm a huge fan of the Animated Spawn that was on HBO. I own all the series on DVD. Much more true to how Spawn should of been handled than wth that Crappy movie. Granted that the clown was pretty well done by John Legiazamo but I think Joe Pesci or Danny Devito would of been better in that role.

![]() | I'm a lifelong follower of the adventures of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Shazam!, JLA, Aquaman, Batgirl (Barbara), Supergirl (Kara), Catwoman, Spectre and related. Gave it up in the last couple of years, as the stale dark attitudes and moral relativity screwed with my preferred interpretation of these mythological, idealized heroes. I hope the DCU lands on its feet after the current crisis, but from the pessimistic crankiness of the current writers, I have my doubts. Bring back the fun and fantasy and ideology! Favorites of the past: Kingdom Come The Dark Knight Returns Wrath of the Spectre Adams/O'Neil Batman Perez Wonder Woman Marston/Peter Wonder Woman Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans Golden Age Captain Marvel Alex Toth Zorro Looking forward to Alex Ross' Justice. ...So who's going to San Diego this year? |

![]() | I have my hopes for DC. I think what I've been hearing about the new "Crisis" might be just what they need. But it's really on a thin line for me. I enjoyed the recent Green Lantern Rebirth and Adam Strange books. I think what has been disturbing for me in recent months at DC, is they are trying to put these characters into a different type of "world." For me DC has always been the science fiction/ Fantasy/ Fanstastic world. Marvel has always been the "rooted in reality" type world. DC has all this alien/other world/ space travel type themes and Marvel has always stuck with the underdog heroes like Spider-man and X-Men. I just think DC has lost some of its roots in that world. Also Merlin, Jeff Smith (Bone) is doing a real cool version of Captain Marvel and Perez and Wolfman are reteaming for a Teen Titans Graphic Novel, if you haven't heard already. Neal Adams might be doing a Batman project if he can just get over himself and not trip on his ego. Spectre- I've heard some things, but I don't wanna have to do a spoiler! ![]() I'll be in San Diego, except for Sunday, when I'll be at Disneyland! |

![]() | I'll look forward to Smith's Captain Marvel and anything Adams comes up with. It's nice to see the current Englehart/Rogers/Austin Batman... and I have a high interest in the "All-Star" Superman and Batman specials. I hope the current DCU turns out to be a dud alternate Earth and they go on to the new "All-Star" Earth. As to "fighting on levels beyond morality" - - I'll have to ponder that. |

![]() | Although I am eager to see the All Star books, I'm concerned this is just another attempt by DC to copy Marvel's Ultimate books. It's such a waste. With the creative teams, I think we'll be luck if we get 8 issues in a year out of 'em. Lee's Batman was 6 issues in the can even before the announced it!! f-in slow! |

I am going on a comic diet here real soon, cutting back on the books I buy, especially as several books close there runs. Might even go back to tradepaperbacks since I am a fan of the stories more than anything.

![]() | Yeah, TPBs are popular, but I'm not a big fan. Sure you get the whole thing, looks great on the bookshelf, but I just hate investing all that on something that might suck. With the single issues, you can pick up #1 and if it sucks, all you're out is the couple bucks. Plus, I think they're a bit bulky. Singles are so easy to roll up in your back pocket or sit on the couch reading it without working out beforehand. |
